It is on the other side of our county, thankfully, but so scary. Started late yesterday afternoon and has burned 8,000 acres already. All of the neighborhoods where I used to do property inspections have been evacuated. Most of it is rural so lots and lots of livestock are having to be evacuated as well. One person posted on the facbook page that they have 70 horses plus cattle that need to be evacuated. Scary.

These two pics were taken yesterday when it was only at 3,000 acres. Now it is 8,000.

OMG!!! that's very frightening, please God there are no fatalities.

..but as Rose said, those pictures are absolutely amazing, did you take them?

There was a question as to whether or not there was someone going around setting fires. This morning they arrested a man who was caught setting one here on my side of the lake-although he lives over where the big fire is. If he has indeed been setting all of them,I`m sooo glad he was caught.

Oh,and no,I did not take the pics. We live in a valley, surrounded by the mountains as we are,we can`t see much of anything-no sunrises,no sunsets, nothing. However,we could see the glow of the fire from our front porch last night.

I saw that just a few minutes ago on the news Mrs. R, so terrible, seems like the folks in California have been suffering with droughts, floods and fires for some years now, very scary and sad. I can just hope for the best for all people and animals involved. If they find these fires are arson, they should throw the book at all caught doing such a horrible things.

I feel so sorry for all the people affected. I can remember a fire moving towards my home in the Ozarks....it really gets your adrenaline pumping. I feel so blessed this summer in southern Ohio, we've had the wettest June/July on record.

You are in Lake County, Clear Lake area? I'm a bit familiar with it. Beautiful area though a bit isolated. So scary with fires. I'm worried about California as a whole.

Very scary...Be safe...We had our share of fires over the past 5 year drought here in Texas..So far this year we are doing good but have not seen rain for the past 21 days and have the 100 degree weather!!

Well,it just keeps growing. Now at over 15,000 acres. I was reading last night on the On The Scanner FB page that there were people trying to evacuate with livestock on this road that I`m very familiar with (did lots of inspections out there and bought one of my llamas out there) and they were trapped by fire. I haven`t heard any update on that so I`m assuming they got out. Ironically, that place that my daughter went into a month or so ago that had a grassfire burning is right in the path of the fire now. I also had to text my son who works out of town this morning that he needs to figure out a different route home tonight as the highway he takes is going to be closed. Going to make his 3 hour drive more like 4 or 5....

How terrible and so frightening.
I am just terrified of fires and it's so dry in many places right now.
Hope you and your family stay safe Mrs. R.

The Western States, with their large tracts of Evergreen trees are a powder keg, just waiting for a lightning strike, or careless campfire to set thousands of acres on fire. Even if a person takes measures to keep these kinds of trees and brush away from their houses, a shower of wayward sparks in the wind can impact houses 100's of yards away. Couple that with an extended period of drought, and thousands of people and their houses can be in real risk.

My son in law is an electrical lineman. Yesterday they were pulled from their out of town job up North and sent home to do pole and wire repairs damaged in the fires. He just text my daughter and said that Cal-Fire just pulled them off the mountain, saying that they have lost complete control of the fire. About the same time,my living room turned a creepy yellowish dark. I looked outside and the sky is complete smoke-no blue whatsoever..:(

I've seen the aftermath of some of these mountain area forest fires when I lived in Denver....and it's not good. If you haven't already done so, you might want to gather up all your important paperwork, and family photo's, etc., and pack some clothes, etc., so as to be ready to go..if needed. The way my luck runs, if I prepare for the worst, it usually doesn't happen...but the times I try to just "hope", I always seem to bite me.

I hope they are able to get this under control soon........stay safe.
