We're getting our boosters...again

Hubby and I are getting our updated Moderna booster tomorrow, which is supposed to be effective against Omichron. Our last booster was in April. We're also getting our flu shots at the same time. I'm not looking forward to the side effects I always get with the Covid shots, but it beats the alternative...right? I always get an instant headache and later in the day, I get fever and chills and muscle aches. Guess I'm not doing anything this weekend but resting. I don't get a reaction from the flu vaccine...just a sore arm. Anyone else getting theirs and do you get any side effects?

We are planning to get the latest Covid shots. I also will be getting a regular flu shot, probably sometime in October. The only side effects we've ever had, is soreness at the injection site for a couple of days. My daughter usually reacts similarly to you.

I called yesterday to get my second booster. I was put on hold so that the receptionist could find out if the new vaccines were being given. !0 minutes later she returns and says No, they are giving the second booster shot and she schedules me for this morning and 9:30. Three hours later I get a call from the Doctors office telling me they are suspending the booster shots because the new vaccines are arriving this week. So now I have to keep checking to find out WHEN they will have them. Oh well.

I got my 2nd booster a couple months ago, so I'm caught up. When Kaiser-Permanente emails again with another advisory I'll make a point to get that as well. I always get annual flu shots, perhaps they'll offer one while I'm there for my upcoming doctor's appt.

I'm planning to try to get it next month along with a flu shot. It sounded like to be eligible for the new omicron shot a person needs to be at least three months since getting covid, and although my covid test was negative a couple months ago I'd had a sore throat and headache for a couple days right when the Ohio county I was in had turned 'orange' risk for covid and I'd been to the movies seated next to a big group with children.

I guess I'll get that stupid booster also. I'm not getting a flu shot. I didn't last year. I wear an N95 mask at work, required. And one out shopping. My last booster was last November because it was required for work. They haven't required another one yet.

See if there are any side effects from this one, which I am not prone to. I did get local irritation after the booster last year and that's even unusual for me.

We're getting our shots at Walgreen's. None of the doctors here (or AZ when we lived there) gave shots of any kind. We had to go to a store pharmacy.

You need to be at least 3 months from having your last booster...not Covid.

We had our 2nd booster last May. Flu shots around Oct or November. So they last through winter. There is no way I would have booster and flu shot at the same time!

I have had 3 Covid shots and each time I am sick in bed for 4 days. I had Covid the end of June. I don’t like vaccines that have to be taken yearly so won’t get anymore unless it turns deadly or starts to attack the respiratory system since I have asthma.

I think I heard it as 2 months beyond last booster or 3 months beyond having covid. It was some YouTube, but I'm not sure if it was Fauci or a newsperson I was listening to.

editing to add, I found the video, it is at about minute 2 of the video:

I just got my flu shot and new Pneumonia shot at the same time. Note to self: do not do it again. I sleep on my side and with 2 sore arms it was a struggle.
I am waiting for my local pharmacy to get the new Moderna vaccine.

I had my 4th Covid injection (Pfizer) in May this year. Nil side effects.

That did not stop me testing positive for Covid in August. I caught it from Hubby who contracted it in hospital.

However, I was not very sick at all apart from some sneezing and coughing and a scratchy throat on the day I first tested positive to a RAT administered at home. I rang my GP and he prescribed antivirals which I started the next day.

I did not feel at all unwell and the next day after starting the meds I decided to take a second RAT to make sure the first one was not a mistake. It wasn't and I stayed home in isolation for the mandatory period of 7 days, plus one more for good luck. Then I scoured the house, washing and sanitising everything in sight.

I can only assume that the vaccinations did their job. While not preventing me being infected, my immune system was primed and ready for the battle with the virus. Even before I received the antivirals my killer T cells were at work killing the virus before it could do damage.

I stand corrected. My husband set me straight last night. Thanks :)

It could be because your body just can't handle all those chemicals that BIG Pharma wants you to take forever.

@Nathan, I'm a KP patient, too, and confused. The website tells me to check back but doesn't say whether the newest booster is in addition to the two I've already had or not necessary because I've had the two. I'll get the seasonal flu shot, of course and hoping that the newest booster is intended for old folks, too.

Because of a lot of customer-facing time at work, I'd sure feel better having had everything they can load me up with! We mask up at work, but the customers do or don't depending on how they feel that day...

I'm pretty sure you got the Moderna vaccine initially, then Kaiser offered 2 boosters so it sounds like you're up to date, as of the present. I rely on the emails KP sends, and so far there is nothing yet besides the 2 boosters issued.

Let me just take this opportunity to say that KP.org website stinks, I find it to be counter-intuitive for anything other than the most basic concerns. I hate that they keep trying to dupe me into going paperless, no matter how many times I've refused.

I'm logged onto Kaiser right now, took a screenshot of their latest Covid news:
