What Alternatives to Coffee and Tea Do You Like?

Hot chocolate, Chai tea and other flavoured teas. I have had Bovril which is a beef-based drink and you can use as much or a little as you like. OXO bouillion cubes come in beef, chicken and vegetable.

Squeezing juice from fruits and veg is fine. But where's the fiber? You need the fiber, too. If you're diabetic, too much fruit juice is harmful and diabetics need fiber, especially. Also the whole item satisfies hunger longer.
Agreed. My mother was a diabetic, and everything had to be balanced.
But, since I'm not, I never think along those lines. Although, I do watch what I eat and always get tested for it.

What could you add for fiber?

One coffee when I first get up. Lemon and lime o fused water the rat is the day. An occasional diet soda. The cocktails I make Ron and me in the evening are typically vodka based, with diet soda as a mixer. Occasionally we’ll vary the cocktail, or he’ll have a beer. Sometimes I like a *****ni though he doesn’t care for them.

I found something I enjoy on occasion now, but you have to like tomato.

I take about 4 ounces of tomato sauce, add red pepper flakes and half a packet of TRUE Lime crystallized lime juice, add water to 12 ounces, stir, and heat it in the microwave.

If I had a fresh lime wedge I'd squeeze that in instead. Different spices (or none) can be used.

7.5 to 8 ounce cans or boxes of tomato sauce are cheap in bulk and store well. Lots of other uses for it as well.

I think I'd like that, but not as an alternative to coffee. I would also like it chilled. With vodka.

I have discovered that I really like chicory as a hot drink coffee substitute. Chicory is a plant very similar to the dandelion, and the roots have inulin, a prebiotic fiber.
When the roots are roasted, it has a taste similar to coffee, but a little more mellow, and maybe sweeter. I drink mine with a little sweetener and cream/milk of some kind, and often I add a half spoon of raw cacao powder for even more of a mocha flavor.

You can get it in several different ways, some that is ground like coffee and you brew it to taste. Teeccino has different flavors and uses chicory, roasted barley, and other herbs , and comes in teabags or granules , which you brew like coffee. The picture is an example of a few of the flavors Teeccino comes in.

My favorite is an instant brand, called Chicoraya. It comes in either raspberry or dandelion , and I really can’t taste much difference between the two, so it is just a different extract added to the chicory.
I now have one cup of regular coffee in the morning, and since it is winter and I want something hot to drink, I have the chicory for the rest of the day when I want something hot.
I find it very satisfying, especially with the added cocoa powder.

I keep brewing green and herbal teas, one into another, until I'm tired of hot beverages. Then I chill the leftover mess of teas.
I pour about a quarter cup of cold tea in a tall glass,
stir in a tablespoon of simmered fresh ginger,
squeeze in a lemon or lime,
add a scant teaspoon of sugar, maybe a little more
and fill the glass with water.
It's good.
Hot herbal teas are great. Chilled herbal teas some with lemon are really nice. 👍
Some people use chicory root as a substitute but I agree; there’s no substitute for real coffee.

@Happyflowerlady , I knew chicory and chicory blends were big down south. I recall commercials as a kid for "Luzianne" chicory/coffee. I don't think it did very well up here.

Luzianne - Wikipedia

I had a workman here to do some sheet rock work for me a few weeks ago. He is from Russia. He said they used to drink it back there but that was 20 years ago.

I enjoy herbal teas: Chamomile/Lavender, Nettle Leaf tea, Tumeric, Ginger - just to name a few. I was recently introduced to Nettle...so far, so good. Other than tea, I drink bottled water - Figi is my fav. Also enjoy red wine. Champagne on special occasions.

Apparently, chicory coffee is a big thing in Europe as well, @RadishRose . The Chicoraya comes from Ukraine, and I just ordered some that is a blend of chicory and cocoa and it comes from France. It is called Nu-Caf and made by Gourmanity. I am looking forward to testing it out when it arrives next week.

I remember tons of these chicory plants in back of our yard in the summer. They were too hard to pick and weave into chains like we did with daisies and purple clover.

I'm a coffee drinker. Usually 2 cups on days I don't work. I like tea but they all seem to bother my stomach anymore and I don't know why. I've stopped buying them at all. Even herbal teas.

It is finally warming up here, and soon I won’t be drinking hot coffee much at all , once it is hot. The Chicoraya is still the very best coffee substitute that i have ever tried, and I have tried most of them (Postum, Roma, Pero, Cafix, and several more I can’t remember.
I have also used some of the ones you brew like coffee, like Teeccino (comes in lots of varieties, some with mushrooms or other health additives), and also DandyBlend, which has dandelion root in it. .
The Chicoraya is great hot or cold , and is instant, so all I have to do is heat up water and it is ready to drink, plus the inulin is healthy and good for someone who is diabetic, if that is an issue.

The Teeccino comes in tea bags or in a package like coffee grounds, so you can make it either way, and they have good sample packs on Amazon and on the Teeccino website . This makes it easy to try some and see which flavors you prefer without having to order much of each one.
Here is one example of the samplers in tea bags.
