What Are Some Cool Names You've Heard?

We all know who Oprah Winfrey is, of coarse. But I thought years ago her name is another (or perhaps literal) pronunciation of the name Ofra. A name not uncommon in Israel. The link below shows different spellings for this name. And I have seen it spelled with the "ph"

Ofra: Name Meaning, Popularity and Info on BabyNames.com

I had a cat named Daphne (my grumpy girl). I spell it with the "ph" but it can also be spelled Dafne and is pronounced the same.

Years ago, I read an article about a barber named "Dan." Yup, his last name really was "Druff."
Same with 2 dentists - Dr. Payne & Dr. Pull.

My brother married a woman who had a sister I was set up with. They told me her name was "Cookie."
When I called her for a first date, I asked her if that was her real name or a nickname. She said it was her real name.
I called her 3 more times for a date & she played a game - telling me she was busy & to call her back next weekend.
She was playing that "hard-to-get" game to boost her ego.
When I called her the 4th time & she pulled that same crap, I said, "I'll tell you what.....why don't you call me when you're.....available, Koookie?"
(I pronounced it "Koooookie" as in crazy)
She said, "It's not Koookie; it's Cookie - like the food.
I said, "No it isn't; it's Kooookie."
She caught on right away & hung up. :ROFLMAO:

There is actually a book out there that tells women to play stupid games like that. You were better off without her!

~Andy Brazil...Don't remember where I heard his name or why I think it's so cool...but I do.
~Trey Mayo, Chief of the Winston-Salem fire department
~Drew Brees, former NFL quarterback
~Javian, middle name of one of my cousins

And speaking of cool. These meteorologists names seem to suit their professions:
~Storm Field (son of meteorologist Frank Field). He was given the nickname Storm when he was a little boy
~Amy Freeze (ya can't make this stuff up!). Freeze is really her last name.

Buck Fiden

Went to school with a kid named Spencer Joe, Joe really was his last name.

He probably needed to get it changed to Joe Spencer, or something else.

He was Navaho, I suspect the Joe came from one of his ancestors being called something like Injun Joe.
I had a cousin who's last name was Joe, her married name. Don't remember ever meeting her husband. They lived down south.

@-Oy- What are LOTR films?

@spectratg I think you grandmother's name is pretty cool.

@RadishRose I went to school with a girl who's father was Dr. Doktor.

Went to high school with kid named George George. I am guessing he was not happy with his parents.

What about on the site, I like helenbacque and crisp p bacon.
I miss Chris P Bacon. He joined us in our Zoom chats but hasn't been around for a while. I really hope he's alright! Yeah it always gets me when people have two first names or two last names but it's even more bizarre when both names are the same name! I have a friend who's first name seems like it should be his last name and his last name is more known as a first name. For his privacy, I will not post his name.

I always read helenbacque as Helen Barbecue. But I like it all the same.

I've known guys with the same or nearly same first and last name; James Jameson, Frederick Fredrickson, Samuel Samuels.
I don't get it. Laziness? Lack of motivation? Your kid has to live with this name, at least until they're old enough to change it if they're not too lazy and are motivated (iow, didn't take after you).

My new eye doctor's name is Dr. Li Li. One Li for each eye. Would be funny if it was Dr. Si Si.
