What are you cooking or baking today?

Well I knew I had to do it sometime - just had to build up to it and today was the day - wot do I call it ? - well maybe you can? - starts with two sliced onions simmering in oil in a large wok. Then after a while I dice some large chicken summats and throw them in too plus mixed herbs and one of those Indian spice bag thingees? shovel it all around to mix well - sprinkle of salt too - no pepper enough already.

Meanwhile back at the sink place two pkts of shop bought noodles - crunch em up plus two bags of mixed vegies - green and orange ones in a large pyrex bowl and pour in boiling water and allow to seep - feck I'm getting more tired typin this? continue stirring wok and finally empty mixed vegies et al into plastic sieve to drain and then add to wok and stir fry gently. allow to sit and then serve - small tasting bowl and rest will go in wok sized ceramic bowl covered and kept in fridge - should last about half a week upt to next shopping day?

Baking is when you fix the food in the oven & cooking refers to food fixed outside of the oven like a grill, stove top, open fire, etc.

I always think of baking as a term for breads, pastries, pies, cakes, desserts, etc. In the oven for meat, I'd use roasting or braising to describe that.

Last night I sliced and marinated some tofu in soy sauce, lime juice, lime zest ginger and garlic. Sautéed it this morning in a little olive oil and used some for a banh mi type breakfast sandwich.

I didn't have any daikon so didn't make that delish pickled salad. While the sandwich was the poorer for that missing ingredient, it was tasty nevertheless. Just added daikon to my shopping list.

I'm re-reading Garrison Keillor's "Lake Wobegon Days", which I do every few years, because it's so good.

After reading about it, I have a hankering to try making a "Tuna Hot Dish", which apparently was a big hit in the fictional community of Lake Wobegon. It was good for funeral dinners, wedding dinners and, by jiminy, just plain old dinner.

All the ingredients are out on the table and I'm ready to roll!

It's cube steak...so there is beef involved.
I was just restating what the woman said on the video. I’m aware there’s red meat involved. I looked at the pictures also. It looks like an interesting recipe. I might try it one day. Would you be willing to post a picture of it for us? No pressure. lol
