What are you doing today 2023

Today, my plan is do laundry and make chicken tenders again. I have a big package of skinless, boneless chicken thighs thawing in the refrigerator. I made a small batch yesterday to see how I wanted to make them and if it came out good. Came out perfect! Also my homemade blue cheese dressing was amazing with them too.........even though I did not make the hot wing sauce this time. Didn't need it really but I like dipping them in some kind of dressing.
 
Woke up 8:30am! That's like 3 to 4 hours later than usual. Yesterday was son/grandson day. Maybe they wear me out. It's sunny & bright & warm out there today. Son forgot to buy me bread yesterday! Why that.............! Now I will have to walk in the sun with the purpose of buying bread. It's good for me. Good for me. Hate what's good for me. I will go, grudgingly into the light and use my legs & walk. It will be good.
 
Goody, goody, goody. Going out for lunch isn't gonna happen today because the weather is so crummy and because DSIL didn't get home from work until almost 3am and has to be back at 3pm.

I'm not a fan of crummy weather and sorry that DSIL has to work 12-hour days but glad I don't have to go out to eat.

DD went to pick up DGD and take her grocery shopping. Maybe when she gets back there will still be time to get my hair cut.

Still in jammies. Unless I go out for a haircut, I might just stay in jammies all day.
 
Weather turned nasty again - rain, sleet, snow, hail - sometimes all at once, so no gardening today. Made lentil soup for lunch and I'm cooking a duck for dinner along with spiced kale and creamed potatoes. Hope the weather is better tomorrow as I have a load of logs being delivered. These have gone up in price too, but are far cheaper to buy in bulk than the bags of firewood that supermarkets sell.
 
I’m so excited, just can’t hide it, lol.
Got the best news ever yesterday, my son and DIL are coming from Illinois for my grandson and his fiancée’s engagement party! It’s April 22…wasn’t expectlng them to come. My daughter knew but wasn’t supposed to tell me until they were sure and had the airline tickets..that happened yesterday.
Theyre arriving late Thursday April 20th which is my son‘s bday. Staying until Sunday night.
3 grandsons aren’t coming though but I’ll take what I can get…haven’t seen them since I visited in September.
The Party is at a brewery in Carmel…that didn’t excite me until now, lol.

As for today going shopping and then meeting grandson and fiancée Brooke for lunch.
 
Got through all the paperwork yesterday. Big YAY on that! Today we're seeing DD and family and the kids will stay and spend the night with us. Would normally be a very active visit but 8 year old DGD fell and broke her elbow Friday evening - on her first day of spring break. Of course it's her left arm and she's left handed. Such a bummer.

Other than that, this morning DH & I will take apart the Roomba for a cleaning, I'll toss in a load of laundry and manage a few other housekeeping odds and ends. Might even dust!

I spent the day outside yesterday.....potted my plants, pressure washed half the patio and mowed...today I plan to finish the pressure washing, laundry and cook lunch....I've also discovered a wonderful new YouTube series called Curiosity, Inc. about this Canadian that buys the contents of hoarder houses and digs through them...lol.....keeps me entertained for hours... Oh, and he is movie star handsome.
 
Glad my son forgot to buy me bread yesterday. Took a lovely walk on a nice day. Only had to yell at one person, this giddy old lady who wanted to help me across the street! WTF? She ended up saying "You can't do something nice in America."

Anyway, glad I got out, weather beautiful, looking forward to getting out more! Really!!

Okay then. I spent the day doing nothing. I did get dressed, but...since I was very busy practicing to be a slug, Didn't. Make. The. Bed🛏️. You read it here first. Mark your calendars🗓️ because this happens so rarely that I can't remember the last time that happened. Or didn't happen.

I watched mindless TV and played online solitaire all day. Yup. Now dining on white cheddar/cranberry cheese and crackers.

Why do you suppose @Jackie23 only washed half the patio yesterday?:unsure:

If all those people who get murdered on TV are loved by everybody, how is it that they wake up dead? Another thing: how come they all have smiles that light up a room? Are they all rich and can afford million-dollar smiles? And those couples who have an instant attraction and get married almost within minutes of meeting would just remember their grandmothers' admonitions that if they marry in haste, they will repent at leisure, they wouldn't end up discovering too late that they married wife beaters, bank robbers or serial murderers.

It sounds like you gotta be stupid to get murdered and be on a murder show.

Got up early, made some coffee and headed out to the deck.
Sun just coming up and sat quietly when two Cardinals showed up at the feeder.
A male and female.

They took turns going to one feeder, waiting for the other to finish.
This feeder has multiple openings, same feed in all our feeders, but they still waited for each other to finish.

Wonder why.

Grocery shopping. Walked to the store, pulling my old* lady cart. A jug of milk is too heavy to carry. Also, I haven’t mastered the concept of buying just the one item I went in for.

Did laundry. Cleaned the front loader washing machine with the high potency chemicals. When I first bought it, I used natural methods like vinegar. They didn’t do the job and I later found out that there was mould in hidden nooks and crannies. Went for a second walk.

* It wasn’t me who tried to help @Pepper across the street.

Tonight I hope we binge watch the final three episodes of The Night Agent (NF).
 
I made a big pot of soup. My story for today......
First time since the thumb episode and I am totally exhausted but in a good way.

Split peas, lentils in one pot.... potatoes, carrots, onion in chopper first and in separate pot, now all in one big pot which I know I will never be able to lift but that is okay. It is presently simmering with a whole beef cube and while it is doin that I am having a small glass of wine.

Should be ready to eat in about half an hour or so with a nice croissant,. Then I will let cool and measure into plastic bags for freezer but I think that will be a job for tomorrow.

The thumb that isn't there behaved very well.
I think it was napping with all the activity or maybe it just doesn't like split peas or sumthin. Probably suffer for it later.

Timer just went off and will give the pot another 15 minutes so I think I will just top up my wine while waiting

LOL.......well, Georgiagranny, you see it was like this.....as I worked my way across the patio ceiling with the pressure washer I discovered this huge dried mud bird nest mess, I forget which kind of birds makes these nest, anyway I decided I'd wait until my daughter came over to help me get it down before I did any more besides I was pretty well wiped out by then anyhow. I have not been out there today at all, I'll have to wait until I get another energy spurt.... next week maybe.
 
Last night I decided to set the telescope up on the balcony. The instruction sheet told me what each part was, but not how to put them together. I did have a nice look at the Moon and Pleiades through my binoculars though. Accompanied by old-person shakiness.

So today ... I found the real instruction manual online. I went to the library today to print off the manual. I also printed the next book club selection so I don't have to read it online.

On arriving home, all I could think about was going to bed. I had a nap, talked to my language partner, and now I'm going back to bed.

That was my day! Exciting huh.

PS. The day was relatively warm, about 25°F (-4°C). Miserable. The cold goes right through you. I prefer the true cold, 0°F or colder. Much more comfortable.

It's 9.45am, my friend will be here at 10am to help me put some pictures up. My walls are solid brick, so it needs a masonary drill to get them up which I can't do... to heavy and too high for me to be able to do it.

It's a glorious sunny day .. so maybe after they've gone I may go out, I'll have to see how the day goes..
 
I'm awake. The alarm woke me up after being kept awake for a long time during the night because there was thunder and lightning. It's too dark to see yet, but I sure hope the storm didn't do any damage to the flowers.

It's off to make 🥐 and stuff. Y'all behave while I'm out. @hollydolly Wudju mind being monitor and taking names? I'll check back when I get home:LOL: BBL
