I'm having my whole family over (as I did last year). There are 14.5 of us, 4 daughters and 4 spouses and 5.5 grandchildren (my 46-year old daughter is due with her second child in less than a month!). I bought the honey baked ham (cooked, sliced, and ready to eat) and some of the wine; they are doing the rest. Also having some old friends of mine, a couple without any children (and not many close family members) who we have kind of adopted, inviting them over for some (but not all) family events. The wife and my late wife started at a certain (ahem) government agency almost 60 years ago where they met and became roommates.

Ok, now I know what day it is, Happy Easter and happy birthday to me. No wonder I am confused. I aged a year last night and it was a lot of hard work. I find it kind of funny that so many`think it is something to celebrate. Most of us now are dealing with the aches and pains of aging, the loss of a spouse. I have been invited to my son's home today. I would rather stay home. I am just no good at pretending I am happy when I am not. I am sure that some of my DIL family will be there as her Mother is also a widow. The loss is still very new for my DIL and her Mom. I am sure my son does not know it is my birthday. I prefer to just leave it alone. I think it is one of those times that needs to be all about the DIL and her family.
Happy birthday blessed ….

Stopping by here, again today. Able to read just some of the posts. Enjoyed the posted photos.

Out my window, Watching wild chases of young squirrels, also some colorful wild birds, and some bulbs coming up. Small number of crocus actually beginning to bloom, and tulip and daffodil green sprouts. A few Allium sprouts. All very welcomed by me!

Had 2 mini floods on Friday afternoon and night. Something about snow melt and drain pipe. That robbed me of some sleep, and has kept me busy moving things, mopping up water with sheets and towels, and then washing/drying them after. Now using high-power fan to dry the carpet.

Today ... I'll try to get my exercise in. Maybe do a regular laundry (clothes). The living room is due for a vacuuming. I might do that if I'm sure the carpet is dry.

Such beautiful weather. It's not like any springtime I've known, so let's call it summer with snow cover. My winter blahs are almost a thing of the past. That was fast!

Start reading book club selection (Kierkegaard). Talk to Guatemalan language partner. Early to bed.

Happy Birthday, @Blessed🎂

It's a pleasant day, sunshine with no wind, and the rain is gone until at least Friday. Yay. I'm off tomorrow so might spend it in the garden. Our high temp yesterday was 44. No kidding. It's supposed to be 72 today.

I was wrong about people either going to church or staying home and not storming the doors at the store. They were out in force and definitely storming the damn doors. Because, yanno, they cleared the bakery shelves again after I left yesterday. First, WTH were they doing out in driving rain? Second, why didn't they do their Easter dinner shopping before yesterday and today?

One lady, whose name must be Karen, asked about fresh bread. Yes. In about an hour (it was cooling and can't be packaged until fully cooled). According to her, "It don't take no hour to bake no bread." Really? Then go home and make your own, b*tch. (Start to finish takes about 2 1/2-3 hours, including cooling time.) I'm starting to hate people!

Laying out all the trays of croisssants and breads and stuff and putting them in the cooler overnight has saved me...wait for it...an hour each day that I've done it. An hour! What'll they expect? Not that I can work five hours a day instead of six, but that I have another hour to do more. >insert heavy sigh here<

Today the store manager called Sir into his office to ask where's former Newest hire. It took him a week to notice that she went back to her other job? A week? Meanwhile, Sir and I are holding down the fort. Barely.

It's just as well that she'd rather do the other job. I learned today that she doesn't do weekends. That wouldn't have been helpful. At all. Supermarkets are open seven days a week.

Well after an overcast start it turned into a glorious sunny Easter Sunday.. 🌞 🌼 I would have gone somewhere but everywhere would have been packed out... so I'll just wait until the holidays are over and the kids go back to school in a weeks' time.

My neighbours have had lots of visitors, grandchildren et al.. and 2 neighbours had BBQ's in the garden

I took a walk over to the woods behind my house and the Bluebells are in full glorious colour...

Apparently it's going to rain for the most of this week.. if the forecast is to be believed, so I'm pleased I got these pictures today.

Just had Tempura battered potato fritters, with Broccoli in cheese sauce, and Prosciutto Ham for dinner..

@Georgiagranny, we're still overcast and in the deep freeze down here in S. GA; I wasn't sure whether to wish ppl at church Happy Easter or Merry Christmas!

Back home now, curled up and looking forward to hearty bean soup and spice cake in a little while. Kids may stop by or they may have other plans. It's all good.

Pretty flowers but did you save some dinner for me?

We're having fried chicken, mashed potatoes, some kind of veggie, whatever all else. DD did the cooking except for the chicken that came from a local supermarket (not the one where I work). Then DGD's birthday cake (from the same local supermarket)...lemon cake with ooey gooey flowers. I like ooey gooey.

Did you ask ?.... .. no... but because I'm good to you my little French filly... I'll keep you a plate back, don't be late... :sneaky::giggle:

I am watching portions of the Masters Golf tournament and listening to the "talking heads" complain about the wind and how it is affecting the scores. I don't really care that much about golf, but the grounds are beautiful and us regular humans rarely get to see them. This is the golf club that would not let Eisenhower play there when he was a General. They did after he became President. All of our local airports have corporate jets lined up on the runways from all the "high rollers" that come into the area for this event. Don't even think about going out to eat somewhere.

I am also washing sheets today, simply because it was on my schedule. I don't even remember why I put this little chore on a eight-day cycle, but it has been there for years. I tend to stick with my schedule.

It rained all day yesterday and most of last night after treating this area to a power outage that lasted until almost 1 in the morning. Normally I would walk since the sun is out, but it is too doggone windy, (I have to admire @moviequeen1 because she walks in really adverse weather.)

My adult son lost two close friend last week. All of them were in the Navy together onboard the USS Kennedy. One died because of a massive heart attack and the other when the small plane he was flying went into a spin and crashed. I am on the phone quite a bit with my son since I knew both of his longtime buddies. It is hard to see your children grieve.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter.
