I am also washing sheets today, simply because it was on my schedule. I don't even remember why I put this little chore on a eight-day cycle, but it has been there for years. I tend to stick with my schedule.

It rained all day yesterday and most of last night after treating this area to a power outage that lasted until almost 1 in the morning. Normally I would walk since the sun is out, but it is too doggone windy, (I have to admire @moviequeen1 because she walks in really adverse weather.)

My adult son lost two close friend last week. All of them were in the Navy together onboard the USS Kennedy. One died because of a massive heart attack and the other when the small plane he was flying went into a spin and crashed. I am on the phone quite a bit with my son since I knew both of his longtime buddies. It is hard to see your children grieve.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

Today I am recovering from an overly busy couple of days.....well I should know better at this age eh!bonk2.gif

Anyway, this morning around 11am ( went back to bed) thought I hear someone at my door so checked it out when I got up and ..look at what was there.

The maintenance man said something about the gutter and drain pipe. I think he fixed it. The company that owns the building is actually very good.

I hate the idea of mold, but I think it's in a lot of places. On the island where I used to live, even the ground was moldy, especially in the spring. That's one reason why I don't like spring! And why I like the weather here. It changes almost instantly from winter to summer. No dreary intermediate season.

This morning I made the coffee, tried to make my hair presentable and as soon my husband woke up (I didn’t want to wake him with the sound of the garage door opening), I headed out to the grocery store. All I needed were a few things. Glad they had chocolate wafer crumb pie shells that I need to make the dessert for tomorrow. Walking out via a different aisle I spotted a clearance of my favourite brand of East Indian meals and some Oriental. This meant finding space in the freezer for all my great purchases.

No idea what the excitement will be for the afternoon. I no longer know the meaning of that word.
 
due to technical problems my family couldn't see/hear me during our zoom meeting at 1 this afternoon,I could see&hear them,what a bummer! Something good from the meeting looking forward to this, my niece Katie&hubby Zach will be here over Memorial Day weekend, he grew up in Williamsville,NY{burb of Buffalo} will be staying at his parents. The last time I saw them in person was at their wedding in Oct 2022

I get it, when my husband died I went kind of nuts cleaning things. Not only in the house, I was out there in the yard. I painted the garden shed, I stained the deck. The.at first year I was a maniac around the house. Now, I have to force myself to get things done. I wish I was still obsessed with getting things done.

I did the same thing last year when my husband left. I dunno why..

I was absolutely distraught, and it's not like my house is dirty.. but I was even cleaning the ceilings.. and painting ( I painted all the doors upstairs. and the kitchen and livingroom doors).. and goodness knows what else I did.. ..I don't know why.. perhaps it's something that gives us something to concentrate on , or something to take our anger or grief out on.. I don't know...🤷‍♀️...but I do know that I keep finding out things I did or said during that first 12 months that I have no memory of at all

well I think you;re suffering from some depression , Blessed, I hope you don't mind me saying... and you're never going to feel better until that's addressed properly...

Had 2 mini floods on Friday afternoon and night. Something about snow melt and drain pipe. That robbed me of some sleep, and has kept me busy moving things, mopping up water with sheets and towels, and then washing/drying them after. Now using high-power fan to dry the carpet.

Today ... I'll try to get my exercise in. Maybe do a regular laundry (clothes). The living room is due for a vacuuming. I might do that if I'm sure the carpet is dry.

Such beautiful weather. It's not like any springtime I've known, so let's call it summer with snow cover. My winter blahs are almost a thing of the past. That was fast!

So sorry about your flood. How annoying! I hope everything's is all dry.
 
I've had a more productive day than usual, in addition to the constantly reoccurring home/clothes/bedding/dishes cleaning, I put up two command hooks (one for the bird song clock I bought myself for my birthday, and one for the little hand size whisk broom I keep by the litter box).
Then I paid my first estimated Maryland state taxes (after last week having the website refuse my registration and having waited for their email support to override that and activate my account). I went ahead and scheduled the payments for the first three quarters, but I'm hoping later in the year if I discover I don't owe as much I will reduce/skip the fourth payment. Or I if I find I'm going to owe more, the Fidelity web helping people showed me how to pay state tax during an IRA withdrawal, and apparently (at least for Federal so I hope also for state tax) that way you can pay late in the year and have it counted as if paid regularly all year long. There are a lot of unexpected things to learn about being retired!

@Pecos I'm so sorry your son has this grief. What a shame, two friends both gone in one week! May his heart be healed soon. 🙏🙏🙏

No offense, I do know I am suffering with depression but I am receiving treatment from my GP.
I have been through therapy and that did not help. I continue to take my medication and do the best I can day by day. At this point, I am just over hoping I will feel better, I just take things one day at a time.
 
Well, it's been raining constantly since 10 am😤😤
Church group came out for breakfast, they'd rolled up burritos for us. It reminds me that others do for strangers, because they believe in the words of the messiah.
@Blessed it's ok, I also suffer from depression at times. I try to find cheer, but sometimes it's quite elusive.
Pondering if I want to hit Safeway for dinner, or WinCo for chicken, or Taco Bell for colon cleanser...🤣🤣

You amaze me, with all the difficulty of your living situation, you continue to stay positive, look for options that will give comfort in your everyday life. God knows, most of us could not manage to function in your reality.

People are usually the best authority on their own bodies and lives. My nephew has depression and a psychologist friend of mine suggested the book called The Depression Cure: The 6-Step Program to Beat Depression Without Drugs by Stephen S. Ilardi. I read it to see what I could learn. It was very helpful and I use the advice myself - things like exposure to sunlight, exercise, how to stop ruminating.
