What are you doing today 2023

Today I put together a new bed frame and headboard. Took me forever because it was more of a mechanical project and I don't lean that way. I got one side of the bed frame attached to the headboard but the other side got messed up because I put the leg on the headboard in the wrong direction and the holes don't match up now. The leg won't come off now so I can't turn it the right direction. My only option is to "southern engineer" it with zip ties. It's in the corner so it won't show! A very exhausting and annoying day.

Question Rob.. do you have stairs in your home, and if so how did you cope after the surgery... ?
Yes, it was hard at first, but I was able to get up and down within a couple of days. Not graceful or easy at first, but doallble

Climed a full set within a week of surgery. However it still hurts a bit going down

that's what's important for me to know.. given that my bathrooms and bedrooms are upstairs.. ...

I haven't got a recliner... but I have got a sofa and a pouffe, so I could use those to sleep if need be...

Currently when I'm in bed I sleep with a cushion between my knees, but some night's that doesn't help with the pain at all..

Wayne might have a recliner he could sleep on to help with the discomfort..

Every one is different, so how soon you could manage stairs might be different. Assuming you do just one knee you should be ok. No fun but ok.

about the bed, for me keeping them elevated and cold for the first few days was important. Sleeping on my back helped

my brother had his surgery today, one knee, no reports yet

My stairs are very steep, and also the treads are shallow.. only about 8 inches deep.. .. they tend to be mostly like that in the UK.. so it's painful now even going upstairs..more so than going down, so goodness knows what it'll be like after the surgery. ...

The one thing I find extremely difficult to do is sleep on my back.. so sitting up with legs stretched out might be the only way for me.. ..

for me The key to climbing stairs was good handrail or cane support. I used a quad cane at first, but was able to climb stairs within a couple of days

Not very gracefully, lol

I learned to sleep on my back, not easy at first, but it help.

the hardest thing for me was standing up from the toilet…

It is 4/28/23 now to bring this up to date relearning to walk again following major surgery here...
sorry k

sorry HD but that description just brought out a spontaneous chuckle - my apologize I know its serious - it;s just me I think - or my memories of steep stairs in uk - no stairs here just bungalows!

My daughter has a bungalow... they keep their price in fact there's such a shortage of them compared to the older population that in fact you can name your price if you're selling one.
I'm currently looking for a new home.. no rush.. but I'm kinda concentrating on Bungalows or one level apartments..

I lived in double storey until I left uk for oz and then everything changed - but to be fair - double storey living has its advantageous in terms of providing a good exercise regime - it's just at a certain age it becomes prohibitive and dangerous - I can remember falling up stairs occasionally but never down them! but I think not having them can make you lazy too? so six of one and half a dozen of the other?

~Reconciled my checkbooks & recorded purchases from the last two weeks on my budget planner spreadsheet.

~Did some shopping on Amazon.

~Was on the phone with my BFF for a little over an hour.

~Swiffered the living room and hall floors. Got sidetracked so didn’t finish the rest of the apartment.

~Composed and sent out a couple of emails about our family reunion. I found the sheet that has locating info about family members, categorized by state. Since we are not blocking rooms for the family this year, I also screenshot and attached the Google map feature showing how to find hotels in the area. Once opened in real time, the icons show where hotels are located between the areas where the two events will be held. Clicking on each icon opens detailed information about the selected hotel(s).

~Then the usual…nap, T.V., games.

He needs to put them in a glass jar and bury them in the yard like I do! LOL
I did that once. I wrapped them carefuly first to prevent them getting rusty, then I put them in a container, and buried them in the garden behind some shrubs... . Some years later when I locked myself out of the house, I went to dig up the keys.. but they weren't where I thought I'd put them. Never did find them. Had to get a locksmith in... :D
