I was woken up earlier than desired by a very good phone call, from a guy in the next building that can be hired to take people to appointments, and he is available to take & stay & return me from/to my colonoscopy on Wednesday. It is such a relief to have a plan in place, and although it costs money it makes me feel less guilty to pay instead of asking near-strangers to accompany me. Though when I was asking people yesterday it was nice how helpful people wanted to be. One would have done it but has an appointment the same day/time in the opposite direction. And even a person in a wheelchair hatched a creative plot to pretend that it was her appointment and I was accompanying her and then she could schedule the handicap-accessible-taxi. Also, someone found me a website for my county where people over 60 can get free rides from volunteers to appointments and grocery stores (but the ride has to be booked a few weeks ahead of time), which might be quite useful in the future. Maybe I should volunteer with them and give a few rides to build up my karma.
My attempt to use fabric paint on the free old chairs I got has failed. Probably with more effort and experience I would be able to do a better job at it, but I think I will give up and instead see if I can find some harmonious fabric to lay over the stained seats (and probably tack it down somehow). And I am feeling much less grossed out about them now that they are well scrubbed, lead-tested, and had lots of sun and fresh air on my balcony, so I plan to move them into my apartment today (and then I'll try to wrestle the love seat out for its turn).
I was using dark blue fabric paint but (not too surprisingly) wound up with a dark green color as the result. I think I should have thinned out the paint with fabric softener like I saw in one YouTube instead of following the directions on the bottle, then I think maybe the brush strokes and color coverage would have been better):
