What are you doing today 2023

I was able to make both my evening and morning (before sunrise prayers) early this morning. I watched an episode and a half of Blue Bloods, swept, then dry and wet Swiffer-ed the kitchen and bathroom floors and got ready to meet my 2nd oldest grandson for breakfast. He's not good at keeping in touch, although he makes sure to call me on my birthdays. The last time I saw him was 11 days ago at his grandmother's memorial service. The time before that was a little more than a year ago at his mother's and aunt's (twins) memorial service. Even though I wish he'd keep in better touch, I am delighted to say he's still a sweet, soft spoken, considerate gentleman and we both really enjoyed our time together. We had a nice conversation about a few different topics including my estate matters and his beneficiary status.

After we ate, he went with me to the bank but the line was too long, so I decided not to wait. We went to the supermarket and he offered to carry my bags home for me but I declined. He was going downtown and it would have put him out of his way. It was already hot and I didn't want him walking the extra blocks in the heat. We gave big hugs and parted ways. I sure hope we can do this again, at least one more time before the year is out but he goes back to work a week before school starts, hindering getting together for brunch or lunch during a weekday (my preference). I was very glad I left the AC on while I was gone.

After putting my food away, I made another small batch of liquid soap. The batch I made a few days ago was too watery, so I combined the two to make the consistency like that of SoftSoap. I watched another one and a half episodes of Blue Bloods, played WWF and napped.

Yesterday a woman in my building called and asked me if I wanted to go with her out into the countryside to stop at Peach Farms, so I did and it was quite an unusual type activity for me. I didn't buy any peaches since I actually had bought some at the store, but I did buy a jar of apple butter (and, rather randomly, a large onion and a poblano pepper). I hadn't had apple butter in ages (can't remember when!). The scenery in that part of Maryland was awesome (turned out she was very like my father about enjoying just driving around exploring different roads).

Then today I took the bus and metro to Virginia to where my parents had lived in the 1980s (and I'd lived with them there for one year in college). It was such a trip down memory lane. When I first got there I became disoriented (partly I think because the elevators I used to go up are now behind frosted doors that require something to be scanned - happily the receptionist allowed me to take those elevators back down to the underground) and had to go up and outdoors and walk around the streets until I recognized where we used to live. There were so many changes (such as the building is now in the midst of a forest of other high rise buildings). Some things looked familiar (the mailboxes in the lobby, a couple of the hair cut places in the underground, the dentist office in the underground), but the stores have all changed. The grocery store disappeared but a fancy hotel and a small live theatre place materialized. There were a lot more little stores and eateries than I remember, and I exceeded my whole daily step goal just wandering up and down the maze of underground halls and shopping.

It was so nice to go back and see stuff, but I sure miss my parents.

@hawkdon, go back to the optometrist and insist the glasses don’t work. They should be guaranteed for about a month. Somebody has messed up and you shouldn’t be suffering.

Eyes open. I think that means I'm awake👀. It's time to make 🥐.

There's a person who comes in three or four late nights a week and gets stuff done...counting things, refreshing tables/shelves. The things she does are a big time suck, and when she's not there the night before, it takes about 30 minutes to an hour for me to get the most important things done. She has to get into the freezer. Night before last she hurt her back trying to get the freezer door open. I can see how it happened because it's nearly happened to me. The condensation builds up and freezes it shut. Can it be fixed? Sure. Have they tried? No. This is a daily battle for me, even when she's only just left an hour or so before I get there. When I can't open it first try, I get a hammer and pry it open. She'll be off work for a while, just when I was rejoicing about working only four hours a day starting next week. That might not happen until she's back. Fooey.

Gotta get a wiggle on. BBL

Yesterday's Fitness Center visit was quite successful. I never did get on the treadmill, but I did all kinds of things. I left there feeling really, really good!

Last night's low was 80°F/26.6°C......it's going to be a hot one, today!!!! Maybe I'll get some reading done.

Bright sunny start to the day here, supposed to get much warmer this week with change of storms.

Yesterday had hubby haul over some stump grinding dirt over flower bed that lacks compost.

I walked down where I found that Spirea bush.
O. My there are several bushes in different sizes!

Back to the house , looking online,, Darn!
The plants/ bushes are invasive,, there goes my idea of planting them in my flower beds.

We were out & about later.
Went to library picked up 5 books to read during this heat wave.

Haven't even walked the dog yet,, he's sunbathing on the porch.

Hubby has dental appointment at noon.
Chicken & biscuits after wards.

Morning breakfast clubbers !!! Finished my 3 morning coffees....up since 5 am,
temp at that time was 85F !!!! getting into 100's today!!! Have no urge to do
anything, even tho I'm sitting in a/c home....Have an ex-wife that texed me
last eve about her very ill cat, asking about having him put to sleep,,,,finally
seemed to accept it may be more humane for him....wierd sorta ......ah well,
take care all folks!!! ;)😁

This morning I had 3 cups of coffee and took my dog on a short walk. I came back in and took a shower and got ready to go grocery shopping. Grocery Shopping was nice and not that crowded. It got me thinking though on another thread about meeting people(dating apps) and how going grocery shopping would be a fantastic place to meet and strike up a conversation with a single man.

Here me out on this, as I walked my cart around the grocery store in the morning, I noticed several attractive older gentlemen doing the same thing I was. Now maybe they were married, I don't know for sure if they weren't, but it got me thinking most likely they were not because if they were they would probably not be grocery shopping early in the morning and their wives would be doing that instead, That is just the single woman in me thinking. :) So really, I think a grocery store(supermarket) would be a wonderful place to meet someone.

Maybe I will start looking harder the next time I go. :)

I agree with this advice, @hawkdon
I know it is stressful and difficult to go back again, but really hope you will ask that helper to help you to do this.

And the sooner the better, for both your eyesight and health,
as well as for the attempt to be within 30 days.
Though even if it is after the 30 days, I would still do it,
and they should honor the need for new ones, because you did go and inform them that they were not right, before then.

Getting eyeglasses that are wrong, is such an understandably difficult, and discouraging experience, but I hope you will keep at this till they fix it, for your eyes and yourself.💌

Is that worker off on Workman’s Compensation or whatever you call it there. If they did a site inspection, that door would fail. Talk to your union. Something needs to hit the fan and it shouldn’t be ice building up on the door.

@Retired Monica I'm at work at 6 am and can tell you that the men who are single and come in that early are almost always single. The married ones don't start showing up until around 8 with their wives.

The early dudes usually stop to say good morning and chat a bit, and some of them are just what the doctor ordered...but they'd have to be 20 years younger to interest me! By the time they get to be my age, the few really old ones who come into the store use the motorized carts. Meh.

Yeah. Worker's Comp. The union is all over it already.

My personal opinion is that it hasn't been fixed because it costs $$. Spending $$ would make the bottom line smaller, right? And that would affect management bonuses. Can't have that!

What if she'd fallen on the accumulated ice inside on the freezer floor and cracked her head? Would being dead move them to repair or replace it? Hey! What if I'd fallen and cracked my head? I've slipped a time or two, even though I wear special shoes to prevent slipping on greasy or wet floors.

I call our freezer The Stalactite/Stalagmite Room.

being that I am in my mid 60's and I do consider myself in good health and physical shape, I would be looking for someone in the mid to upper 60's range and possibly early 70's range. I suppose it all would be determined by how the conversation went.

@Retired Monica
Husband & I were in Walmart a few weeks ago.
He was ahead of me getting milk out of the cooler.

I was coming picking up loaf ,, farmer type, old man started talking to me.
Telling me about getting his 3rd cutting of hay this year.
Getting 3 cuttings of hay is unusual for our area.

Gave him a thumbs & headed toward my husband.

I like to talk to people.
Have been volunteer tour guide on the local tourist train several years ago.

A smile & something about the weather usually gets folks talking to you.

I am seriously going to give this a go the next time I am at the super market. Even better if a nice man approaches me first. I usually go the super market pretty early on Wednesdays.

This is my before picture although I meant to take it before I dug up a lot of the liriope. It had crossed it's barrier and was taking over.
Don't mind that wood pile. I've been assured it will be moved soon. 🙂
This area had some tired old pine mulch and just looked tired and old.
