Books delivered on different days?
and might be as late as near 9 p.m???......
that doesn't sound convenient or relaxing.

But it's always nice to receive books! :geek:
And to relax with them, after the deliveries!
Absolutely!! Books are like bread and water to me.. and Hardback books are like having Jam on the bread... .. (y)..I do have a kindle and I could have had all 4 in one minute the day I ordered them.. but I really love HB books... :D

Welp, I'm about to start on dish washing, the danged dish
fairie's have not been here in 2 days, so it's up to me...then fold
the last load of clothes....and sitting here sneezing for some reason....it is 41deg F, and no rain, sunny at least..got to put new batterie's in my game cam for Groundhog day, I want to catch
that little brown critter on camera.......:D

I disinfected some masks and had a short chat with my honorary son this morning while getting ready to go to the podiatrist. I would have walked there but it was raining so I took an Uber. While waiting for the doctor to come in, I played Cody Cross. My podiatrist is so nice...on the same level as my PCP. He's caring and takes his time, stops if I need him to and apologizes if he thinks it's because he's hurting me. We always have a nice chat. I was planning to walk home because the Accuweather app indicated that it would not be raining by the time I left. Well..it was raining harder than when I got there so I called another Uber.

The ride home isn't that far but the Uber driver and I had a really nice conversation. He told me he's a substitute teacher and had a couple of hours he decided to fill doing Uber. Turns out he works at the same school where my honorary daughter was an administrator until November when she took a position at a school in another county. He mentioned that he has two years until he retires and I told him the two years will go fast, that I can't believe as of Feb I'll be retired for 25 years. He couldn't believe it and asked how old I was when I retired. I told him (almost 51). When he asked how did I fill my time, I told him my family swears that at first I was busier in retirement than when I was working but I managed to produce an album. Then he started asking me some music trivia questions. One was who was the only White artist to sign with Motown. I felt I should have known this. but didn't (the driver was White BTW). He said it was Frankie Valle! He also asked me what was the most popular Motown song and a what was the first big Rap hit, which I knew the answers to, which impressed him. He mentioned retirement again as we pulled up to my house and I said "You know what you have to do"..and that is to make sure he's financially prepared. He said he's on it and knows to diversify. I thanked him for the fun ride and he thanked me for the advice. He gets 5 stars and a tip. :)

When I got in, I ate lunch and fell asleep. I meant to take the garbage out before that but by the time I woke up, they had already put the dumpsters out on the street and locked the gate, so I had to walk through another building to put mine in the dumpster. TV today: Criminal Minds and Waterfront House Hunting, both on Hulu.

I've been trying to be sociable at my retirement community (a bit of a stretch for me since I'm very introverted), tonight I went to my building's party room for 'Rummikub night'. I'd never heard of the game and arrived really late so just sat and watched and chatted with people at the table. Everyone here is so nice and friendly.

Though a lot of the people I've been meeting at the club meetings and in my building are so educated, I don't suffer too much envy for people who have more money than me, but I am very impressed and envious when people have serious scholastic attainments or even if their kids do. When I went on a hike with a club group a couple weeks ago the people I chatted with had PhDs and had (before retirement) awesome careers and had published papers in their fields. And at the mailboxes yesterday I was chatting with a woman who had a Stanford sweatshirt and we got to talking about sweatshirts and she said her children always sent her sweatshirts from their colleges and so now she has sweatshirts from Stanford, Princeton, Harvard, and Oxford. Color me green with envy!

I can understand where you are coming from. I do not come from a college background but I have a lot of common sense. I have lived a good life and have a good retirement. I know lots of high school classmates that went to college and are in no better place if not worse than where I am. Most of them have married and divorced more than once, sometimes had money only to lose it all. Did not plan for retirement, thinking they could do it later. They lived in a world of debt all of their lives just to impress others. The sad thing is they go right along pretending everything is fine. They tell others they live in such and such area, they rent cars to come to events, they live on credit they will never pay off.
Just remember, yes, back in the day, their parents may have had money, they may have gone to college but the life they life now could be a complete fabrication. I, at least, admit I have lived a simple life, have a mortgage free home, have an old paid off car, but I don't have to pretend to be anything but me. As for kids, our son did go to a good college, he did not have to take out any student loans, we scrimped and saved for twenty years to be able to do that,
I wonder if the mailbox lady said anything about how they are paying for the kids education? Makes you think doesn't it. Why is she not living in a home at the shore, a maid, butler, driver and gardner. If you have the cash to send kids to those schools, you are not living in a retirement community. Just saying.....

Yesterday my new aide came and she is going to work out fine. She cleaned very well and she kept busy the whole time. After carrying the laundry upstairs (she doesn't like elevators) I told her to sit down and take a break. She will be back on Wednesday. I am almost all caught up with the laundry.

Today I will make 4 batches of replacement meal shakes so I can make them into ice cream for the next four days. Trying new flavors today. Going to make that old cream cheese dip that you put olives in. Thinking of putting some bacon it it too. I still have leftover pork ribs so that will be supper tonight.

Working on one of my paper piles today. I think I have four total but two are actually photo piles. Getting stuff done today since my cleaning and laundry chores are done.

Priorities. She is spending on what's important to her, and probably doesn't have the extras you think she can afford. Priorities. Like, when I was growing up, we could have afforded a house v. a co-op, but my parents preferred to take vacations with the money they saved not having a house. They couldn't do both, so they had priorities.

Finished shovelling the guys paths yesterday…..only had about 20 feet to shovel but it was the heaviest part of the backyard……almost 20 inches. so now they can do the circle around without having to stop and turn around…..Micki had a BIG RIP…..forgot how many times she did the rounds…..but….she was a happy camper.
Also, did some sewing and extra cleaning.

Today…..will have to do some shovelling…..yes…..guess what…..it’s snowing…..started about 2am…..continues till late this afternoon.
Guess my shovel was happy getting exercise yesterday…..going to shovel again today.

My wee girl, Shaalee goes to the groomer this morning…..pick up mail, pick up a fill on a med…..get cash at the bank….pick Shaalee up at 12 noon…..lunch…..shovel sNOw…..shovel sNOw…..but we haven’t had much snow since our big dump at Christmas.
Better enjoy the mild temps…..deep freeze starts again tonite and through past the weekend.

Rainy and cold here today, I'll be inside all day, got the dog inside....I have to watch him to avoid having to clean up after him....he has an odor that the vet said was yeast infection that starts in his gut, it is better though since I've started treatment of salmon dog food and prebiotic chews, still smells though.

Been out today with 2 friends to have a 'Burns' supper'' at the pub ( actually lunch ) . It celebrates the Poet Rabbie Burns every year. His birthday is the 25th of January but the pub serves the Haggis neeps and Tatties for the whole week ...

LOL, I did respond that it must have been expensive, and she laughed and said there was no way they could have afforded it themselves because her husband had been a minister and she was a teacher, and that their kids had gotten scholarships.
I think her kids pay for her to live here (presumably they all graduated long ago and have jobs, she mentioned having grandchildren that live near here).

It's just having a bunch of smart kids that could get into those schools is what I envy. The woman is just like the rest of us, she's getting old, she's shaky, she's having memory problems, she's frustrated that her son won't let her drive anymore, etc.

Exercise bike and physio this morning. Laundry done. Went for a walk to pick up a couple of bits of shopping. Very cold today but no rain. Last week, I loosely made arrangements to meet up with two friends but, I am in the mood to get some chores done this week so, I might put it off. I know, I am such a rubbish friend :(

He also asked me what was the most popular Motown song and a what was the first big Rap hit, which I knew the answers to, which impressed him.
Well, are you going to leave us all in suspense? I had to look these up.

For the first one, depends on the source. Either My Girl or I Heard It Through the Grapevine. There were a couple of other candidates too, that were less familiar to me.

First big rap hit: Rapper's Delight? I'd call that funk, but I'm no musicologist.

What I'm doing today ... Got off to a good start, housework and exercise. Next I'll go to the recycle depot. Maybe a couple of stores.

Then more exercise, talk to language partner, etc.

Hi, kids, Gramma's home! The "new" person who was supposed to start today? DID! Yay! She's not exactly new, having worked in a couple of other departments, but she's new to us. I'll reserve judgment, but she did well for a first day. She did state in no uncertain terms that she will not work weekends and will only work 3 days/week.

Um. If Sir had known that, she might not be in the bakery at all because if there's something that's needed it's definitely flexibility. However, he didn't even meet her until this morning; she was assigned to the bakery, not interviewed and offered the job. We'll see.

It's a pretty and sunny day. *My* birds are emptying their feeder as fast as they can...maybe they know that it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow and won't want to be out.

After the miserable weather of last week, today was like spring - clear skies and 55deg. Very little breeze, but we managed to get a load of washing on the line to dry.
Went to Sainsbug's this morning to replenish our stock of sherry and a few other necessities. Then to Aldi and Morrisons where we were pleased to get a good deal in 'everyday' port. The litre bottles were cheaper than the 750ml bottles :) . (I've got some good port for special occasions).

Cooked 'witch' (a flatfish of the sole family) in butter and thyme along with potatoes and broccoli.

Hub has a Fire Dept. construction meeting...probably view some new potential properties to purchase. He is the fire commissioner and fire dept. pres. so has to be there to give the nod in the right direction and sign the checks...lol.

We have a 2 bedroom apt. over the 4 car garage that is making me wonder today what it would be like to rehab it a bit and rent it out. Its so nice there...you feel like you are living in a "treehouse". We lived there when building the main house. I know, how would you find reliable renters, huh. Sigh. Beautiful sunny day, though.
Enjoy your day, folks.
If I promise to not have all night parties.. can I rent it... :sneaky::love:

How large is that tarp, Holly. It seems like another difficult task, for one person. I always wish you had a helper at the ready for such things.
But it's a good accomplishment.
Sorry Kaila , I missed this post... yes, the tarp is very large.. 15 feet by 12 if I remember rightly... .
