What are you doing today 2023

What a day so far. I stop at the library on days I deliver meals to use their computers. It kills 90 minutes until I have to go to the meal center. Today their computer system was down. The librarian said they've been offline for almost a week.

So I decided as long as I had to go downtown, I'd shop a little. I tried to open the Family Dollar door and it was locked. This was 9:40am and the sign on the door indicates they open at 8 am. Another potential customer came along and pounded on the door. A distant voice said,"I'll open in a minute." It was more like 5 minutes. Come to find out, the clerk was delayed by a road accident.

When I was delivering meals, there was a new client on the list and it took me a while to find the house, then I got lost on the back roads trying to find the next address from there. Then I found out I was short 5 cold food bags (these are separate from the hot meal trays) and contain a half-pint of milk and the "dessert".

When I got back I told the meal supervisor I was short on the bags and she said, "I don't care. I've had it with this job. I'm quitting in 2 weeks."

I looked at the items on the free table and there was a shoe box with some doilies in it. I picked it up and started to leave when a voice rang out, "Hey! Hey!" I turned around and a woman said I could have ONE doily, not the whole box, so I put it back without taking any.

Some days are filled with occasional moments standing at the kitchen window and gazing at mostly birds, squirrels, neighborhood cats and random street traffic. Others times standing there, I have a distinct feeling I'm the one being watched.

OMG...what a day Deb....one of those days where you should have just stayed at home...

The senior boy dog, Mason, makes various daily demands.
Today, here he is protesting my delay in retrieving his toys from the shed ...

So first up is his favorite ... a Jolly Pets Jolly Egg ...

Doesn't mean he can't try out other toys too ...

I'm "on the fence" about these two pictures. They don't have anything to do with anything. Anything at all.

@debodun I watch with interest the accounts of your selfless and most generous civic endeavors.
Just wish there were NO frustrations ever in your doing so.
Oh, I have my selfish side, believe me. But thanks for the compliment. I've repeatedly asked the agency to inform me ahead of time whether there are any changes to the route so I can compensate for it, but they never do. Maybe they think if they call me, someone might be listening and they would be a violation of the privacy act.

I had a follow up Dr appt today about my high glucose and cholesterol check.
After I left there last time I buckled down and started eating much healthier. I thought I did because I was eating low carb and little to no junk/fast food. I did need to lose a few more pounds. I started eating more fruit, veg, lean protein.
With the Drs prompt I started tracking fiber and saturated fat. I do walk most days.
I've been on my fitness pal to help and I'm proud to say my a1c went from 6.1 down to 5.6, normal. Cholesterol is normal. Blood pressure was 104 over ?. It was very good.
She seemed really pleased I followed her advice and it worked.
You know, I am a rule follower! 🤓

Geez, I hope I don't get hit by a bus on my walk. That'd be a b#$ch!

As my Grandma used to say, some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed!

Hope tomorrow is better for you, Deb.

@Robb.hisself The best routine is the one that suits you best;) Make sure there's something to look forward to each day, even if it's something as insignificant as eating your favorite cookie and having a cup of tea or coffee at a certain time of day.

It's good that you have a neighbor (and his dog) to walk and talk with every day. Maybe a dog🐶 of your own would help? They're a lot of work, but the reward of loyalty and unconditional love❤️ is worth it. They never nag, and they're always glad to see you!

For me, the routine is getting up with the chickens and working until noon and having Maggiecat🐱to take care of. Oh, and coffee on my teeny tiny patio at 430 in the morning. That's my quiet time when I contemplate (and solve) the world's problems:ROFLMAO:

Working is my way of being out in the world with lights and people, and I'm always grateful to get home where I don't have to deal with lights and people!

In the afternoon, it's time for a short nap, online solitaire and chocolate. In the evening, it's ice cream about an hour before bed.
Thank you for sharing your time and life with me.

I woke up at 3:30. No point in lying around in bed when I was already wide awake so I got up and had my coffee.

My new watering can solar light didn't arrive until late in the afternoon. After it was set up, it only got about three hours of sunlight to charge but still lit up for a few hours after dark. It will probably stay lit all night tonight. Soooo pretty!

Sir's day off today so I won't know until tomorrow what other dopey things were changed by the "expert" contractor. Actually, I don't even care:D

If I'm not mistaken, TL is supposed to be there at 10 today. That means I'll have four hours to get my work done before being chattered at non-stop. Or maybe even 4 1/2 because it takes her about 30 minutes to make her way from the time clock to the bakery.

It's going to be yet another sunny and dry day. There's no rain in sight for the next 10 days. Whoa. Our driest months here are September and October, but this is craaaazy.

Okay, then. Time to gather my wits and my Self and get ready for work. Y'all have a perfectly splendid day.

I fell yesterday. I was in PetCo. There was a stack of litter boxes. I wanted the color of the second one, so I pulled the stack out, pulled the second one out and the room started spinning & down I went. It was all like in Slo-Mo so I knew I was falling and couldn't right myself in time. I had the time to decide how I wanted to fall & put myself in protective position.

Went down on left side. I must still have some fat left as I felt cushioned. Hit left side of forehead as well as hip, but I think I protected that with arm.

I have actually practiced falling, for the past five years since my grandson was born. I would pretend I was holding him and practice HOW to fall and protect an infant.

About three years ago I was in PetCo doing the exact same chore, exact same. It was fine, so I assumed no problem in doing it myself.

I will learn to ask for help. I obviously can't do the simplest of tasks anymore. Hate this, hate needing help for easy stuff, but must protect myself.

I like you like to pretend to be a spider monkey by trying to get things out of reach. I have learned not to do so since I have had a hip replacement. Now, I stop and wait for a tall gentlemen to get that wanted product. Makes them feel good to help my gray headed self and keeps me from falling on my bottom. A win win problem!!

I hope you are okay. If I fell I doubt I would be able to get up on my own. Yes, better to ask for help than taking chances.

Oh no! Hope you're ok.
I think I need to practice falling. Great idea!

Falling does happen in slow motion. You get seconds to brace yourself.

Glad you're ok Pepper... better get rid of that flattie of bourbon in your handbag huh? Just kidding.
Look after yourself 🤗

Sorry to read that you fell Pepper.

I fell at home, week or ago.
Have the bad habit of looking forward,, not looking down.
Tripped on the handle of the dog leash that I had just moved so the dog could get in the shade. DUD!

Looked at my knee, no damage,,,next day noticed how red my knee cap was.

Today is looking good,, sun is shining.
Maybe I'll get something done?

Hope everyone has a great Friday!
