What are you doing today 2023

Lucky you @hollydolly up top it's raining and cold. You're lucky if you've got 80 degrees and sun. Cheers!
yes it became much more cloudy and humid in the afternoon....but no sign of that Storm Agnes that apparently much of the rest of the UK has. My daughter at work today was having a zoom conversation with another company in Ireland, and they showed her that the trees were being bent double there..

I woke up at 11, having been up for several hours in the middle of the night before going back to sleep. After eating breakfast, which was an omelette and a mini naan bread, I talked with my son on the phone, did a couple of internet searches, then took a walk on the boardwalk.

It was windier than forecast, plus I forgot to bring my water, so I didn't stay out too long. I did walk 1.3 miles, however. When I got back to the resort, I bought a Stouffer's mac & cheese and a Fat Boy ice cream sandwich from their Shoppe. I was going to go down to the fitness room this evening, but changed my mind.

After I load the dishwasher I'm going to relax, look at the ocean and play a few games.

Beautiful day today, finally! A bit crisp but sunny. Walked doggie for quite awhile, but had to sit afterward.

Went to another grocery store for more stuff and also some treats. Put things away. Took out trash.

Sauteed zuchinni, chopped onions, sliced crimini mushrooms and chopped fresh tomatoes in olive oil and garlic. Then made a small baked macaroni and cheese in the oven. Washed cookware, cleaned kitchen.

Thinking tomorrow to bake my pork roast with potatoes, carrots and onions. I may add some of my home-grown rosemary and fresh minced garlic. Except for the potatoes, I will freeze some portions for later.

What time should we be there?

It's not just docs' offices that can't find people...it's everdamnwhere!

I'm home (obviously). It's downright cold at 70F and overcast but no rain expected. Strange.

So...I was busily knocking out my first-thing-in-the-morning tasks when out of nowhere appeared a woman I'd never seen before. She's an employee of a contactor that's directing a bunch of changes. She asked, "Is Sir going to be here this morning?" What the what? What if he hadn't been coming in? I sure as :poop: didn't have time to be bothered with her new edicts, not to mention I have no authority to "instruct" Sir about what he is to do.

As it turned out, he was there just a few minutes after she appeared. One of the big changes is that we are no longer allowed to put the product labels on the package in a way that's designed to keep the packages sealed. You read that right. IOW, a customer comes along, hungry, and can just open the package, help themselves or stick their fingers in icing or whatever they feel like doing, and move along on their merry way. Not to mention that when a customer turns the package over to see the price, it will open and the contents will fall on the floor. Whaaaaat?

I can tell you for absolute certainty that I will never again buy anything from a Kroger bakery except something I've baked that day and not put on a shelf. Nope nope nopity nope!

We already have a problem with customers breaking the seal, taking a bite of a donut, taking a cookie, taking one muffin out of the package, then putting the package back on the shelf or table. You really gotta wonder who dreams up this kind of stuff.

She also spent a lot of time looking over products that were already on the shelves and telling me how I was baking them all wrong. Constructive criticism is one thing, criticism from a know-nothing contractor is another. Grrr. When she was out of earshot, Sir said to just go along with her. She'll be there again tomorrow, but tomorrow's my day off. Then she's gone. Yay.

Sir is an extremely patient person, but I wonder how thin his patience will wear this afternoon?

I'm gonna go rest my brain and my Self.

Who shops there? Ariana Grande?
Remember When Ariana Grande Licked Donuts and Yelled 'I Hate America'

Yippee. A day off.

I spent most of my shift yesterday trying to maintain my RBF and don't think I was successful. Working under pressure is one thing I have always done well. Working amid commotion not so much.

TL should be there right now. Um. Don't know if it'll be LOL or :poop: but today is a case of not my circus, not my monkeys for me.

I gotta get dressed and get my household chores done in order to get out to the garden. There's a lot that's been neglected.20230928_052930(1).jpg

Hey! Let's rise and shine, kids. I've had breakfast, done two loads of laundry, cleaned Maggiecat's litter box and just spent two hours in the garden, and y'all are still merely talking about what you're gonna do today?

C'mon. The day's half over. There are places to go, things to do, people to see. Get a wiggle on!

Last night I had dinner with four women I've known well for over 35 years. We try to get together 3-4 times a year. My life is so much better for knowing and loving them.

Today's plan is to wrap up some paperwork, put away yesterday's load of laundry that's hanging on the drying rack in the garage, mop some floors, do a little laptop updating, and generally try to stay out of trouble.

If it wasn’t for Messanger and like three long-distance friends, I’d be deleting my Facebook acct. it’s gotten ridiculous…

It’s all ads or stuff I don’t care about (I don’t care what Taylor Swift is doing and I *really* don’t care about the Kardasians)

I don’t need ads for chunky, over-priced jewelry from Saks…. Nor do I need to hear about a men’s aftershave that smells like cigar smoke annd honey (I am not making this up). And why am I getting ads in foreign languages??

I scrolled through this AM and counted .. out of 100 posts, *three* pertained to ppl I actually know. 🤬

Gnashing teeth. I think I’m gonna cut back to checking FB feed to like 1x/week

Thank Goodness I never got into the whole FB thing...

I am usually up at 4:30 a.m. I take a walk each morning with my next door neighbor and his dog. When you are old and live alone it is hard to find someone to regularly chat with. So, I value his company greatly.

Then I check my Flickr account, load a photo for the day, comment on others' photos in groups where I post my daily photo, and check SF.

By then it is 7:00 a.m. and I sit down with a tray on my lap with a bowl of hot oatmeal to watch my favorite program on T.V. It is an hour of vintage cartoons on ME.TV called Toony with ME. Though all cartoons, it is not really meant for kids. All the cartoons are from the 1960's to the 1920's. And, the advertisements are geared to older adults as well.

Afterwards I head out to the garden or for some house work for a while. And, then am gone to the store or to the Venice Boardwalk for a long walk until after noon. That's my typical morning.

I cared for my mom for 14 years and my life was geared entirely to her and her life. But, since she died in March of this year I have been wandering around mostly. I am not sure if it is better to have a routine such as I've described or to just take each day as it comes. So far a routine of sorts seems best. Without it the day just seems so empty for some reason. What do you think is best routine or whatever?

@Robb.hisself The best routine is the one that suits you best;) Make sure there's something to look forward to each day, even if it's something as insignificant as eating your favorite cookie and having a cup of tea or coffee at a certain time of day.

It's good that you have a neighbor (and his dog) to walk and talk with every day. Maybe a dog🐶 of your own would help? They're a lot of work, but the reward of loyalty and unconditional love❤️ is worth it. They never nag, and they're always glad to see you!

For me, the routine is getting up with the chickens and working until noon and having Maggiecat🐱to take care of. Oh, and coffee on my teeny tiny patio at 430 in the morning. That's my quiet time when I contemplate (and solve) the world's problems:ROFLMAO:

Working is my way of being out in the world with lights and people, and I'm always grateful to get home where I don't have to deal with lights and people!

In the afternoon, it's time for a short nap, online solitaire and chocolate. In the evening, it's ice cream about an hour before bed.
