Gosh. Talking heads here drone on and on about the miracle of the NHS. Er, when they aren't casting laurels upon the Canadian system. Could it be that it all sucks?

Today weather is overcast, coolish, intermittent showers. I'm planning to deal with a problem at the very bottom of our sloping, gravel driveway.

A young guy drove down it two days ago, cut his right turn off it too sharp, got his car into where our driveway meets the gov't maintained road. He got his car stuck and had to get a neighbor with a sizable tractor to pull him out. The gravel & soil where he veered off are now sloughed away down onto the end of the culvert across the bottom of our driveway.

I need to fabricate a barrier to hold new earth & gravel to fill in that little portion of the driveway, and above the culvert.

Back from the vet to refill the boy dog's monthly meds. And dropped in on the property tax office at the court house to apply for continued property tax exemption. Exemption completed. No property taxes (zero) for another year WOooHOoo.

Metal Monday: Toting a metal utility knife issued, used and carried while in the military. An electrician's knife (TL-29) tossed in for good measure. Both used throughout my military career. Both made by Camillus in New York. Both have great sentimental value. I couldn't tote them into the court house this morning though. Firearms and knives not allowed. Sheriff's Deputy at the door, checks at the walk-through metal detector.

@hollydolly, you can stay home and feel terrible for hours or sit in the hospital for hours and get some needed answers. Wear comfy clothes and take your ipad. A lump is something to be very worried about.
Nope I can't sit in a hospital waiting room for 12 hours with every seat taken by poorly people... last time I went which was early this year after being sent by the doctor.. I waited 7 hours with no sign of being seen..and a big fight broke out right next to me among some waiting male patients.. and this was during the day not late at night as you might think... ...so I left...after being told that they had no idea how much longer I'd be waiting.

ETA ...just to add that the nearest hospital is not in my town.. it's quite some miles away... and it costs a fortune to park there while at the A&E... ..

I think each nation does well, for its own citizens, to attempt to solve the challenges faced by its own populace. Yes, our Canadian system has real issues, too. No denying that.

Our universities & colleges turn out graduates each year — from nurses & nursing aids to GPs, specialists, and surgeons. We still need more, and immigrants (once tuned up for Canadian patient-care standards) do seem to continually get hired.

This is the results of the fight in the waiting room at the hospital last April... eventually I ended up being diagnosed with Pneumonia.. but I had to leave after 7 hours of waiting, when this fight broke out.. I just didn't feel safe there...

..and then just as people had grappled the 4 guys who were fighting, ( Id been sitting on those blue sets when the fight started ) ..another guy launched an unprovoked attack on a Doctor....and th police were called... needless to say that held up the queue of patient even longer..

What stuck in the craw.. was having to pay almost £9.00 to park...

Morning MWF workout. Then, in the afternoon, I was removing parts off a vehicle I am having scrapped as I have the identical replacement, a 99 Chev Suburban. Took off the grill (pretty easy), headlights (easy), but then the bumper! Those bolts were on tight and I used a breaker bar, but now I am feeling it in my back! Why didn't I use a pipe on on the breaker bar!?! Also the hood, which was quite easy.

@hollydolly ,,, could it be your appendix? It;s on your right side.

If it's a growth, I've heard that most of them are benign, so please try not to freak out before your appt. Wed.. I know you're too smart to let this go without medical attention. Please let us know as soon as you can. I'm thinking of you. Stay calm.
No not my appendix Rose.. had them out when I was a child.. and anyway it's much higher than the appendix site...

I remember when you first posted this. It's unbelievable!!!! And yet....

I remember when the hospital that I worked at installed bulletproof glass at the nurses/doctor's station. I was so surprised at the time, but eventually understood why they got it! Some people are just nuts!

Had a busy morning, played bridge in the afternoon, walked, made dinner, walked in the rain tonight and finished up watching an hour of TV on Prime. Took at least 10 minutes to find something semi worth watching.
