Today was an exciting day for me! My good friend (I call her "Tee" and Li'l Sis) called yesterday to say she was almost finished with the draft of my video. I didn't expect her to call early this morning to say she finished the draft. What she did exceeded my expectations and I can't wait for the finished product to upload to YouTube.
Tonight my son took me to see my dear friend Hunter perform at a restaurant-lounge about 40 minutes away. Though we've kept in touch, we haven't seen each other since just before the pandemic hit. He always puts on a good show that uplifts me and others in his audiences, apparently. Hunter does music from the classics (Sinatra, Nat King Cole) to Motown to other R & B, both up tempo and slow songs. He also plays his saxophone. When I got up to take his picture, he called my name, pointed to me and said xxxxxxxx is a songwriter, recording artist and producer.... "please give her a hand" and the audience applauded. It totally took me by surprise!
During the intermission, he always tries to talk with as many of his fans as he can. He came over and talked with my son and me for quite a few minutes. He wanted to know what music I'm working on and was happy for me about the video. I let him know that I declined being filmed for his bio-documentary though I submitted something via text to the videographer. He said as amazing as the story of how we met and ultimately became dear friends is... it's best told on film and said he really wants me to do it. We joked that our outfits (color wise) matched and my son took our picture. We've talked about doing a project together for years but life happens. He's had serious health issues to deal with and his recoveries are nothing short of amazing. I told him that recording together is on my bucket list. Tonight he said.."let's make it happen." We'll see. He and my son got a kick out of teasing me and it was all in good fun. I had a really good time and am very happy that my son also enjoyed himself so much. Hunter is a writer and producer too. Here's one of my favorites by him that he co-wrote. These Emmys aren't props. He won those for his songwriting for T.V.
