This is how it's looking here today.. overcast and 71 deg.

It was sunny this morning, but it's due to rain any time now... nothing planned ..might take a drive to the farm shop to pick up some eggs

101° today. Will go for an early swim when DH gets up, then have some business chores to attend to. Mostly I'll be using Excel spreadsheets, which is the kind of work I quite enjoy.

After that DH & I will sort and pack some bulk orders. When temperatures are uncomfortable, we bring everything inside the house rather than working in the garage - no heat or AC in there.

Hard to believe that schools start returning to classes in less than two weeks!

Nice photo. Your crops are a few weeks ahead of ours. In previous years much of the land round here was used for grazing, but this year it's been ploughed and planted with crops. I imagine the current price of grain is making arable farming much more profitable.

Classics…. Jane Austen, the Brontes, George Elliot …

You might like Georgette Heyer's books. She wrote different genres in different styles and I only really like her regency romance books, but I like them so much I've read them over and over for the past 40 years. She wrote from the 1920s til she died in 1974. The libraries probably have them (titles like 'Frederica', 'Arabella', 'Sylvester', 'The Quiet Gentleman', etc etc).

Okay then! We did our Walmarting right after I got off work. Yay. That's done. The best feeling in the whole world is driving away from Walmart :D.

High temp of 89 today? They lied. At noon it was already 87 so as soon as we got home, I whipped out the mower and gave the lawn a haircut.

Now I'm gonna rest and think about what mischief needs to be gotten into this afternoon. Or maybe wash the kitchen walls.

Not here..they only broke up a week ago last Friday, they don't return to school until September

Gigi...you're just an incredible woman.. superwoman actually... working a fast paced , heavy laden job all week.. come home,, go to the hated grocery shopping..( albeit with DD)... and then come home and mow the lawn... no-one would believe you're in your 80's... I think you've been fooling us all along... 🤗💪

@hollydolly Nope. I'm in my 83rd orbit, remember? Just today DD reminded me that I'm closer to 83 than to 82. If I make it to 83, then I'll be in my 84th orbit. Imagine!

Don't be too impressed because the lawn is small. Maybe about 20' by 100'? Maybe a little bigger than that, but still small. And it's a self-propelled power mower. All I do is point it and walk behind it.

I've taken it under advisement and decided that washing the walls in the kitchen is best left for another day. I really don't feel like taking all the stuff off the walls and then putting it all back up again. Meh. Maybe tomorrow.

Speaking of school starting and judging by cookie sales at the start of school last year (because the parents are buying stuff for snacks and lunches for their little darlings), I baked 40 dozen cookies this morning. Forty. Dozen. There were about 20 dozen still on the cookie tables and shelves. They'll all be gone by the time the store closes at 11 tonight, along with all the muffins, single-serving pieces of cake and pie, pre-packaged bar cookies and pre-packaged frosted sugar cookies. Just what the little darlings need: a cr@pton of sugar!

Tomorrow is my day off. Somebody else (somebody named Sir?) will have to bake another 40 dozen cookies :D.

@Kaila Schools close for summer vacation here the end of the third week of May. And yes, they do go five days a week.
Thank you. That's interesting.
Of course, it does become hot there, by end of May. It hasn't actually cooled down too much, by now, though.
But that way, families are free to take vacations in June, which is a problem up North, when schools go to third week of June, even though nothing really gets accomplished in the month of June.

Today my plan is to do my walk outside and hit the library at the same time. Going to get my library card at the same time. Probably after the walk so I can spend a little bit of time getting familiar with the library. If the homeless people are laying all over the ramp I am going to make them move. They are not aggressive types, mainly passive, shells of the person they used to be.
