I have always found that oatmeal bread is lacking.....something. I don't know what.

A friend of mine told me that he toasted his and put butter on it. I tried it that way and thought it was much better!

That's a brilliant idea. I never even thought of that. I will definitely try it tomorrow morning. Thanks.
And if that doesn't work, then try slathering something else that you like, on topof that. :);)
Pretty much anything... nut butter, or mashed beans, or slices of cheese,... etc.

Or make French Toast, out of slices of the bland quick bread instead? Just dip slices in egg, and quick fry it?
Apply butter and your favorite topping?

Those are great ideas. I had some toasted with butter this morning, and not bad at all. I do like apricot jam or marmalade, so I may try that tomorrow. (Again, never thought of that, but sure why not).

This morning after I watched last night's World News Tonight, I started watching a documentary on Amazon Prime about the missing flight MH370; haven't finished it yet. I loaded and ran the dishwasher then started getting ready for my son, who was off today, to take me to Walmart. I shopped a little faster than I'd planned because he wanted to get back before school traffic, which is quite heavy in our area, so he could visit his youngest son (he has to past several schools to get there). I spent $106, which I think is more than I've ever spent in Walmart during one trip.

Amazingly, I ran into my late DIL's middle sister, who's husband's funeral was held this past Saturday. They hadn't been married a year yet when he passed. I couldn't be there but kept wishing I could give her a hug. So today I got to do that. We got home right at my son's target time...2:30 . I put away just the things that need refrigeration. I always wipe them down with disinfectant wipes before putting them in my fridge and freezer. I also pulled out all the beef flavored cat food and bagged it to give to a neighbor. Deja isn't a fan of beef, has started turning her nose up or leaving most of it in her dish if she eats it at all.

One of the things I bought was Michael Angelo's eggplant parmesan. I heated up half of what is considered a serving then had some Great Value (Walmart brand) mint chocolate chip ice cream, which I like more than our local supermarket's brand. Plus it's sealed. This container may be the last ice cream I eat for a while for health reasons. I've had an active few days so I was tired. I fell asleep after I ate and slept for several hours so I expect to be up in the middle of the night...again.

I must admit to doing some Amazon prime day shopping. Nothing to crazy, big container of black pepper, cotton kitchen towels, razor refills... just have not found anything else that is a must. I got a case of TP not long ago. That reminds me, I am getting low on paper towels, I will look at those tomorrow.

Please share any good buys you have found.

Woke at 8:00am. Mind, I was up until 4:00am, so......

Walked the dog.

Had a cup of tea.

Now headed to the shower.

After which I'll have another cup of tea (once the taste of toothpaste has gone. Why don't they make tea flavored toothpaste?)

Then I've got ponder what I'm going to do about my problem. That is, I need to get into my attic, but the attic is in a vaulted ceiling, and I need a long ladder (which I don't have) to get up there. Do I balance chair upon chair, upon table? Do I buy a ladder for this one job? I've never actually been up there, but there's a strange noise that needs looking at.

If there's a new story later about an old man falling during a circus act and hurting himself, it's probably me.

Define "strange noise." Any idea what it could be? Well in any case, what I'd do is find someone to borrow a ladder from... probably by posting on the Neighborhood website. People are always so good with pitching in there. Well actually I'd more likely just pay someone to do the climbing than borrow a ladder. Whatever you do, be careful!

It sounds like a joist twisted. A groan from something wooden. It may or may not be something, but - and I know this is silly to some - I do like silence when listening to music, and it's driving me nuts. Plus - if the roof is going to blow off, I'd like to know beforehand. :D

Welp, awake too early again...feels like I'm back in my childhood ways, used to lie awake most of the nite, listing to the sounds...this is harder tho, cause the ole body does not recover as well as it did then....be glad when I'm off this prednisone....oh and the people who brought me the emulsifier or whatever for

Yesterday was another bad day for me. This time it was because my knee decided to give me grief all day!!! It was sore and swollen when I got up in the morning (usually it takes all day to reach that state). It continued to get worse as the day went on. By the time I was leaving Wal-Mart I could hardly walk. This morning, it's fine.....I think it's just messing around with me!!!

I'm not sure how today will progress but I'm hoping that I will get the chest freezer thawed. It's not too bad, so it will be easy to do.

Hi, kids. I'm h-o-o-o-m-e! Did everybody behave while I was gone?

It's overcast and kinda cool-ish. We're expecting rain later this afternoon. Yippee. I don't have to water flowers.

Tomorrow's a day off and expected to be sunny and cool-ish. Fine. I've got housekeeping chores that have been neglected for far too long. And then there's laundry.

The replacement solar wind chimes are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I hope they get here early enough in the day to charge so that I can admire them tomorrow evening.

My buddy is coming by in about a half hour for a couple extra hands to help me install the formica on the workshop countertops.
Hopefully we won't get too intoxicated from the fumes and all will go well.
I remember that very strong odour from the thick glue when I was a kid in the 60's... my father was Formica mad, and covered tables and chests of drawers with it..

We're forecast from tomorrow night (thurs) through until Saturday morning to have yet another heavy rain storm... weather warnings have been given out all day for it.. thankfully I got the lawns cut yesterday...

The water board only cut off half of the road.. and it wasn't my half today so I was delighted to still have water all day. I'm not sure when they'll move to this part of the road.. tomorrow or Friday.. no idea. but you know they have huge boards all over the road proclaiming ''No through road''.. and I've watched people all day just ignore them and drive through.. chicane style..

There's many other ways to access this road.. so there's no excuse for tht.. just beyond the pale IMO>.

Had a trip to dental office this morning for cleaning. Xrays show a soft spot they will fill in a few weeks. Gave my SO her "morning" insulin shot and put the velcro compression wraps on her legs (treats her lymphedema). Will fix lunch/dinner later. It's kinda cloudy and mild (mid 80s) here in central Florida.

And tomorrow I visit my urologist to review recent PSA test results. The fun never stops.

Skipped breakfast to go pick up and my get MRI results I was scared to death my cancer was back but got good report there going on 7 years free of it, came home and ate breakfast just now at 1320 hrs. It was great even this late.
Fishing in Oklahoma tomorrow with regular crew I just dread the drive home but should be back well before dark.
Even though home before dark I was dead tired out from up at 0345, if it was much farther I even thought of getting a room somewhere to sleep awhile, but lost the battle soon after I got all my gear stowed when home, slept great though. My new leg was not happy with my day on it the drive back did get to me some I admit.
We caught almost 90 fish total with 9 overs, 1 measured over 30" 3 over 27" all stripers. 10pounds plus on the big ones were impressive fish for sure

Hi folks...it is 3am local and here I am wide awakw again danmitall......hope the old bod will hold up under this stress....
The prednisone is pill form, today I drop to two pills a day,
maybe that will help....it is 41deg F here right now, may get into
70's later with good chance of rain....see ya later......

@hawkdon , have you ever heard of the ancient 2 sleeps habit? At one time this was normal.

"Anthropologists have found evidence that during pre-industrial Europe, bi-modal sleeping was considered the norm. Sleep onset was determined not by a set bedtime, but by whether there were things to do."

"Historian A. Roger Ekirch’s book At day’s close: night in times past describes how households at this time retired a couple of hours after dusk, woke a few hours later for one to two hours, and then had a second sleep until dawn."

The scientific reason why two sleeps are better than one

Was that prednisone supposed to help with that recurrent itchy rash-type thing? Or is it intended to help with that dizziness?

Since it is putting you through such difficulties, I am wondering.
Is it actually showing any improvement, in whichever symptom or condition, that it was prescribed for?

I spent most of today running errands. One of my stops was the hardware store to buy a plug because the plug on my counter top convection oven needs to be replaced. I use it a lot especially in the summer when it's hot, so I don't have to turn on my range and heat up the whole kitchen. I'll try replacing it tomorrow and let you know how that goes if I can manage not to electrocute myself.27
