@bobcat,, thanks for answering my question.

You might want to look at Averie Cooks online recipes.

Found her when I was looking for a zucchini blueberry loaf recipe.
Its very good tasting & simple to make.

Like you I "play around with recipes."
Don't use fresh peaches in the zucchini blueberry recipe.
Update: I did find the Avery Cook recipe for the Zuchinni Blueberry Loaf and it looks mouth-watering, so I will give it a go in a few days when I get caught up. Thank you.

@hawkdon , have you ever heard of the ancient 2 sleeps habit? At one time this was normal.

"Anthropologists have found evidence that during pre-industrial Europe, bi-modal sleeping was considered the norm. Sleep onset was determined not by a set bedtime, but by whether there were things to do."

"Historian A. Roger Ekirch’s book At day’s close: night in times past describes how households at this time retired a couple of hours after dusk, woke a few hours later for one to two hours, and then had a second sleep until dawn."

The scientific reason why two sleeps are better than one
That is truly fascinating. Thanks for sharing the different perspective, and the historical nature of it.

My buddy is coming by in about a half hour for a couple extra hands to help me install the formica on the workshop countertops.
Hopefully we won't get too intoxicated from the fumes and all will go well.
Well, update: The first counter top went on smooth as silk. The second one developed a slight bubble before fully lowering the back end. We tried to peel it back to get the bubble out, but the glue was having none of that. He put more pressure on it, and it cracked. He felt terrible, but no worries. I will just order another one, and we will get it done. :poop: happens.

Wow, I am sure that was not what either of you expected!😳
He must have felt terrible about his help.😟

Gosh, the adhesive was stronger than the counter top itself.😵‍💫

Well it's been a rotten day in part.. a day which we knew was inevitable, but didn't really believe would come, as we lost both my adored grandfurkid labradoodles this morning.. furbabies of my daughters' but as much mine as hers as most of you know....I've been very emotional about it all day.. just seems odd not to have them in the world any more ☹️😔😔

I told the story here for anyone who wants to read...

My adored Grandfurkids died today....

Up until I got the news I was having a nice day..it was a beautiful sunny hot day..like mid-summer.. too hot to even wear sleeves..

I drove North and got the supermarket shopping, stocked up on water because the water is being shut off to my road from tomorrow during daylight hours for a week for repairs..

Drove back down the motorway to a couple more towns in my hunt for a Thermos flask... jeez those things are extortionately expensive now.. £42 for one in one store... 😲...

My daughter had been desperately trying to contact me but my iphone doesn't ring or even allow callers to leave a message when I'm driving.. so she'd tried for 2 hours.. before I finally got the call 🥺 I've got to find out how to turn that off in my phone..

Got home, and mowed both front and back lawns, because the garden waste gets taken tomorrow.. so I'm hoping this will have been the last mowing of the year..
So sorry about the passing of your furbabies.

I'll go get a firewood bundle soon. I feel dumb, but my lot is small and I can only gather just so much wood and right now I'm down to damp twigs.

I can make a bundle last several burns. I bought a metal screened firepit a few years back and while decrepit it is still safe. I usually fire it up after dark and watch videos on a tablet docked to stereo speakers.

Off one side of my back yard an older lady's yard abuts. She has to be pushing 90 and doesn't get out and about anymore, but I have noticed that she opens her vertical blinds and dims the lights and watches my fire. Her son comes over to mow her grass, and I said to tell her she's welcome to come and sit. He just giggled, so I don't know if that is good or bad.

well..maybe the son thought you were interested in his mother in a romantic way :D

This afternoon, we met with an old friend of a friend, for lunch. He was my best girlfriend's boyfriend, way back when. It has been 50+ years since we'd seen one another. His buddy owns and manages a popular Italian bistro. The food was excellent, and we were treated to vino, on the house.

It was good to catch up on what we've all been doing over the decades. My bestie's husband recently passed away. She lives in New Brunswick, so, of course she couldn't join us.

Eye appointment today and eyes were dilated. Instead of being the rainy, overcast day predicted, the sun was out in full force. Even dark sunglasses didn’t help. It was so bright in the restaurant, I was lucky to be able to see my lunch. Wandered around the town and browsed in a few shops.

As usual today I am worrying . My older sisters youngest daughter has been in the hospital over a week now ,They have run test after test and couldn't find out what is causing the numbness in her arm and pain in her chest. My niece has been through so much. When she was only 10yrs old she went into the bathroom duing the night and found her Dad dead on the floor. He had a heart attack and passed away.A few years ago her brother passed away. Why does this precious .girl have to go though all this

~Rearranged stock to make room for yesterday's groceries.

~Devised a new storage method for my candy & snack tote so things are easier to find and will stay organized.

~Made crab cakes (using imitation crabmeat). I modified the recipe I found online a bit. It’s messy but well worth it. They are SO good! I’ll have another one tomorrow and will freeze the other four.

@Sassycakes I hope they find out what is wrong with your niece and administer the proper treatment. It's sad that she's experienced such heartbreak even as a young girl.

@Jules I know what you mean about being dilated. I'm basically "blind" for a few hours and like a vampire when I have to go out in the sun. Once I was dilated, had a hard time ordering the Uber when I was inside and couldn't see at all when I got outside and realized the driver probably went to the wrong building...again. I usually walk across the street to the bank because ride shares get a more accurate instruction of where to go but of course, I couldn't see well enough to do that.

I called my son in a panic and luckily he was on his way back into town and close enough that he could pick me up. I was happy to wait...maybe less than a half hour. I told my eye doctor on the next visit that she can't dilate me again unless I have a ride.

We went to the Texas State Fair. It is big and delightfully tacky and we try to go every year.

We always try to eat something "bad" that we would never consider eating any other time. I had a Big Texas Bowl that was filled with the best mac & cheese I've ever tasted, topped off with brisket, candied bacon, fried onions, jalapeno peppers and barbecue sauce. There was a sweet pickle on the side. It was amazing. My partner had his usual Fletcher's Corny Dog but ate about 1/3 of my bowl because it was too much for one person. As they say, everything's big in Texas!

I always love seeing the car show there, so we did that. Then before we left we watched "pig racing". It was hilarious, and the announcer was like something out of Hee Haw... hat, overalls Southern drawl and all. It was 73 degrees with a cool breeze and completely overcast. Got in lots of walking. What a great day!

BTW Fair Park, where the state fair is held, is home to the largest collection of Art Deco exposition buildings in the US. They were built in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition so that in and of itself makes for an interesting backdrop.

This morning I'm heading out to the local reserve in search of Beared Reedlings. Lovely little birds that eat insects during the spring and summer, but when there are none in late autumn and winter eat reed seeds instead. They need to eat grit to help them digest these so come out of the thick reed beds to find it. I shall be waiting for them with camera and big lens :)

@-Oy- I'd never heard of those birds. If you find some, would you post pix?

Why am I up at this obscene hour on a day off? Because my brain clock almost always wakes me up, that's why.

There are plenty of household things for me to do on this rainy day. Things like cleaning the kitchen and bathroom floors and whitening the grout (I have a grout pen). And vacuuming the rest of The Hovel. And Laundry. And a nap🛌

Lol.. you have to start living on British time ..you'll feel a whole lot better... it's 11.25 here now...:D

Pouring of rain here this morning... it's 11.40am.. really grey and dull... but do I care.. nope, because I'm not going anywhere . I have the kitchen to clean and the floors to wash like you Gigi... but other than that nothing else.

I'm still looking for a new home.. but I just can't find anything suitable yet... but there's no big rush... what's for me won't pass me , is my mantra

Have a lovely day my friends..💐

Whoopeee!! I got 6 or 7 hrs sleep last nite!!! Had a good talk
with Him and He provided what was needed.....had a terrible
case of tinnitus come on yesterday which was no help, but anyway the extra sleep certainly helps !!!! :D
Some years ago Hawkie... I was very poorly.. on the verge of a nervous breakdown after a string of horrible events had happened within a a very short space of time.

I'm not one to seek medical help for much ..especially back in the day, but in truth I thought I was losing my mind, so I sought out my doctor who wanted to prescribe me some Anti-depressants.. I was against using those.. so when he couldn't persuade me.. he gave me a prescription for a short course of sleeping pills which I accepted.. saying.. that if we can't sleep , everything in our lives is magnified.. so if we can get ourselves proper sleep.. our minds are then able to deal with everything that's happening in a rational manner.. and you know he was right..I've never forgotten it...

On my early walk at 6:30 ,temp was 50 went to buy local paper
This morning,I'm walking to my church to volunteer with couple other members, we are putting together envelopes for the start of our annual Generousity campaign which starts this Sun. When members come on Sun,they will be given their envelopes
I use to volunteer in our business office twice/wk as the 'office elf' doing various 'jobs' before Covid changed everything. I miss doing this,I did come in July to put stamps/label envelopes. I always ask one of the staff members in the office,if she needs help to notify me. One of my volunteer jobs I've had since 2017,is as our church flower co ordinator. I've tired of doing it ,I'm resigning in Dec.Sherri who has been on numerous church committees over the years, was my # 1 choice to replace me, am thrilled she has accepted , she will do well She starts the 2nd week in Jan
The rest of my day may take another walk ,read my book

Good morning! My chest freezer is done.

My knee (old injury, re-flaring up) was fine all day, until the evening. Dio was cutting big branches that were overhanging the trail, while I dragged the branches away. I guess it was too soon for that kind of activity. Although I try to avoid it, I do plan on talking Meloxicam (minimum dose) with my breakfast today. I don't expect any grief from the knee!!

I forgot to tell you that I started making a new Fairy House for the garden! This one will be much better than the last one, because Dio is glueing the rocks for me. The last one, I had the rocks stacked up and balanced in place, and Opie (my cat at the time) though it was there just so that he could knock it down!

LOL, Doug good thing you shared. I would have liked a taste of this myself.
Glad you had a good time.
