If I believed the weather warnings, we would be under water at the top of hills where we would be blown away by supersonic gales.
Yes, it's wet and windy here in N.E. Scotland, but the worst of the weather seems to be south and west of here. The nearby town of Fraserburgh holds the UK record for the highest wind speed at ground level - 142 mph. in 1989.

We're just hoping that we have no power cuts as Mrs. has a fruit cake in the oven!

Got the laundry done today... second load has just gone in the dryer..

Some time ago I bought new lined curtains for the livingroom for winter.. I still haven't got round to hanging them up..or even opening the packets..lol... and I was thinking the other day, that if I get a new place, I'm gonna be out of pocket by several hundred quid if I don't get any use out of them..so I'm torn .. do I open them up, and hang them thinking I might never move for a long time ..or am I going to be stuck with curtains that won't fit a new place..?...or.. do I leave them untouched , and unopened so I could sell them as new in the event I find a new place ...but then what if I don't move for ages..?

Decisions , decisions..

@hollydolly Those curtains might just fit windows in a new place. You never know.

I managed to haul my bony butt to the garden and water flowers.

Now I'm gonna fold and put away the laundry. Then it might be nap time.

A funny: Sir texted earlier that he hadn't yet told TL that her vacay was denied. I asked what he thought her reaction would be. He texted back: 🤯

I doubt that they'll fit any other home I have or get..I have double aspect windows in the livingroom which are different sizes...

Hang 'em.
You'll be glad you did. :)

My wife is away, out on the coast for a couple more days. Got up, made coffee, fed the cat. Then had some breakfast. Did some of last evening's dishes. Checked a few spots on the internet. (Posted a few comments on SF.) Got some recycling together.

After 15 minutes to drive up to the village north of here, I shook out a big plastic barrel of recyclables into one of the elongated bins up there. Objective two: our previous rototiller's engine wore out 3/4 of the way through this past gardening season. I'd made arrangements to run a well-designed 2nd-hand one that was for sale by the small-engine mechanic who lives in the village. I'd already given the machine a first look-over about 10 days ago. So, after a little Q&A, and running the machine a bit, I felt the guy was offering a good deal. So I bought it.😊

I dedicated today to watching on my 4k UHD 24 inch external monitor driven from my Dell laptop, four each hour long science programs, I've now completed viewing. First up was this excellent fast paced 61 minute long covering a broad range of topics of atomic physics and cosmology astronomy youtube video. Main issue I had was, I had little time to mentally digest each short verbal segment given my deep science background, so will need to repeat watching while regularly pausing to allow more thinking before moving to following segments.

One Hour Of Mind-Blowing Mysteries Of The Atom

The last couple weeks each time during evenings new NOVA "Ancient Earth" specials came on at our local PBS OTA channels, was too sleepy. Mainly because I was battling over two weeks an unpleasant stubborn case of Omircron COVID-19. But fortunately PBS NOVA programs may also be viewed for free via their Internet website. Have spent decades reading sciences about, studying, and experiencing our incredible planet, my favorite activity in life. I've mentioned on this board a few times this following best seller book from 2000, that includes in more detail much of what the NOVA Ancient Earth series covers:

Rare Earth: Why Complex Life is Uncommon in the Universe

https://www.amazon.com/Rare-Earth-Complex-Uncommon-Universe/dp/0387952896/ref=sr_1_3

This is the first Ancient Earth episode:

Ancient Earth: Birth of the Sky

Ancient Earth: Birth of the Sky

This is the second Ancient Earth episode:

Ancient Earth: Frozen

Ancient Earth: Frozen

And below is yesterday's third episode, my favorite so far, with 2 more in following weeks. Grand inspiring orchestral background music and landscape images that are so spectacular, it brings tears to my eyes. I so so love our amazing blue water organic life planet I see as an ultimate gift for we nascent intelligent organic entities and wish I could exist here eternally. There are many reasons I could argue, our planet has been purposely engineered so over 4 billion years. No, IMO we are not alone in this Universe.

I had a very busy day. I woke up around 1:30 a.m. and stayed up to do a couple of things and make sure I made my evening and before sunrise prayers on time. I walked to the Amazon Hub then the supermarket, shortly after 8 a.m. I got LaYogurt (on sale for 39 cents) and Uncrustables, which my oldest grandson loves. When I got home, I made green tea for us to take to Hoboken with us today.

We took the train, ate our Uncrustables shortly after disembarking, sat on the bench and talked for a while, then started our walk over to "The Lady" (Water Soul by Jaume PLensa). He was fascinated to be able to walk to where she is for an up close view, just like I was last week. I put in just shy of 10,000 steps and 4 miles. We stopped a couple of times along the way, sitting for a few minutes. The last time was at a table by the water where we continued our lively conversation.

When I got home I fed "the little girl", ate a crab cake, the rest of the creamed spinach and roasted red potatoes I got from Boston Market on Tuesday and crashed. I fell asleep, plate still in my lap. My son took it away when he came in to kiss me before going to bed.

Hammered down of rain again all night... still raining heavily now at lunchtime.. while we're dealing with Storm Babet

Checked the Outbuildings and the barn had leaked, and the tall freezer was soaked... had to mop up and dry the outside of the freezer, before turning on the Dehumidifier in there...

Pictures in the media today, show many places flooded.... badly ,and trees are down, rivers have burst their banks causing death and chaos for many ... but mainly in the north of the UK ( Scotland & The north of England)

Yesterday was not a good day for me. I got my mammogram done. This is very stressful for me. I think that all of the stress made me sick. I felt like my body released all kinds of stored up toxins into my system. I was very crabby and irritable. My whole day was shot!

While at the hospital, I did stop in at my old dept. I came in through the "back door", and I walked right past all of those people who I used to work with (never saying a word to any of them!!!).....and went into the office of my one and only friend. We only visited for about 10 minutes (she had patients to see), but it was really great to see her again! It was probably the best part of my day.....along with the looks that my former co-workers gave me as I walked past them!!!!

Today, I'm sore from the plates on the mammogram machine. So I'm not expecting to be in a great mood today, either.

Tomorrow, I expect to be a guest at my friends skating party, so at least I can look forward to that!

I hope you all have a good weekend!

It's actually sunny at the minute, though still windy. The worst weather seems to be south of here so we've got away lightly. I've just had a quick trip round the garden and there's not much damage - some loose felt on the summerhouse roof and a branch from a tree in our neighbours garden. Our fruit trees seem to have survived OK. There's another warning for heavy rain tomorrow, but not as windy.

Going to visit my son and family in just a few hours. I imagine we will talk over the past, present, and future, as always. I think we are also going out to a ranch where he and my granddaughter ride horses regularly. They are having a firepit afterwards for fun, conversation, and a couple brewskies, so I imagine we'll do that as well. He lives about 2 1/2 hrs away, so one of my playlists will be tickling my ears while I cruise along. Should be a fun weekend overall.

Louie 🐈 is not letting me type........Gidget 🐈‍⬛ is minding her own business
I feel for ya. I actually either have to confine my cat to her carrier or the bathroom or distract her for a while with this crinkle ball, her favorite thing, to play with, when I want to get things done on the computer. Otherwise she'll get on the printer and bat at my fingers as I'm trying to type. Sometimes she'll hit the keyboard.
