What are you doing today 2023

Tonight we'll have grandson for an overnight - would normally have him on Monday anyway, so taking him this evening gives his parents a break tonight and tomorrow morning.
Sad to say, DDIL remembered yesterday afternoon that Toddler GS has a two-year-old wellness checkup this morning, so no overnight visit. Will have him tomorrow and possibly Weds or maybe Fri - have to look at our schedule. His birthday party yesterday evening was held at a restaurant, with the guest of honor mostly bored to death so the adults took turns walking him outside.

It was very enjoyable to visit with my DDIL's parents and siblings.

DH & I will likely spend our unexpected day off pulling together cookies to wrap, box and ship. The USPS delivers across the country within 2-3 days at better rates than FedEx Ground or UPS.

Yeah, I know what you mean!

The freezer defrosters- my refrigerator is self defrost but I have a 17 Cubic feet upright freezer too and was thinking of buying one of those electric defrosters at amazon- BUT I googled defrosting freezers and found a great tip-
they said to leave the door open and let a regular portable fan blow air into the freezer, after it is emptied and turned off.
You have a 17 cf freezer that isn't frost-free? How old is it?

Happy to say, I haven't owned a non frost-free freezer or fridge in many years. I remember those dreadful days of having to empty everything into coolers, then chip ice while wrangling a hair dryer, plus cleaning up the water mess. Good riddance to that chore!

Well..while the sun shone, I went out and hung the new Garden lights all over the big Choysia, and my Bay laurel Shrubs.. ..

Since I had the big Holly tree chopped down in the summer, both the big shrubs have stretched out sideways and upwards.. no longer being in the shade of the tree.. so I didn't notice until today when I was hanging the lights, that the damn Holly tree has sprouted again under the shrubs.. and I had several branches 4 feet high to cut back to the root...

This is the problem with them not removing the stump...

Anyway in the meantime, I've got the laundry done.. and the first load is in the dryer now...

The sun is still out at 2.45pm.. and the sky is that strange blue again even with the sunshine ... however it'll be dark in about an hour and a half...again...

Woke to a thin layer of snow on the ground.

Didn't keep hubby from heading over to cut down more trees!
His helper was a 'no show' this morning!

So far this morning,,Mac had his potty walk.
I've got load of laundry in the dryer.

I hope to get started with a few Christmas decorations today.

While out yesterday, at Garden Center,, I saw the some small,, clear glass Christmas trees.
I think they were lite from underneath with colored light.
Either air or some sort of fluid in them with glitter that floated inside them.

Hmmm,, describing them,, now they don't sound as pretty as they looked.

.

I got up at 6 AM, as usual, and watched the news, showered and got dressed , ate cereal and drank 2 cups of coffee, and basically I have been here a quite few times already today!
The posts are always interesting and I love sharing some of my photos here, and I really have nothing special to do today.I had left a 12 pack of Ginger Ale in my car yesterday and went out to get it and it is VERY Cold out there with a wind chill factor.

The photos here are really fabulous- from all of you

It took all morning to get the dough made for spritz. Because? Because I dawdled. Now it's done and waiting to be baked into cookies, but first I gotta load up the cookie press. Sigh. This recipe makes 10 dozen spritz so that'll be a lotta loading of the cookie press.

When I'm done, then I gotta clean up the cookie press. Why does everything have to be so much work?

Y'all will be happy to hear that I did change the bed linens this morning. Yup. Not only changed them, but washed the others and folded them. Folding the bottom fitted sheet is not among my favorite things to do, but folded they are and put away as well.

The wind still hasn't started up. Goody. Maybe it won't. The sun is shining brightly, and it's a tropical 46. Tropical.

Okay >>Georgiagranny is marching into the kitchen to bake spritz<< in just a minute...

Well, I'm behind on my day, again!!! I have a very possessive bed. It hangs on to me and won't let me go......and I'm to lazy to put up much of a fight! 😉

I've been trying to catch up on reading everyone's posts, but, well....we all know that will never happen.

I seem unfocused today, easily distracted. While reading your posts I was getting messages from my former co-worker's wife. We had only met briefly (twice), but I'm in contact with her, but not my former work friend. Go figure! Anyway, she's in a bad place in her life right now (including being served with divorce papers), so we just talked a bit.

Now it's getting late, and I need to get going on my day.

@

Georgiagranny Your post about using the cookie press bought back memories.

In fact I think I don't like sprizt cookies because of all the work involved.

The apples that hubby so kindly left on my work area got moved into couple fruit basket.
Out of sight out of mind.

My plan today didn't include making a Dutch Crumb apple pie.
Was thinking of decorating for Christmas.

The cold wind & dull saw chains bought him back home.

Well. I did it. I baked 'em all and even cleaned up the kitchen. It didn't even take long because 25 fit on a cookie sheet, and I lay out another sheet while one is baking. I may or may not have eaten a few;) @Sliverfox if I didn't make spritz at Christmastime, the world would come to an end. My kids told me so.

DD and I ran some errands. Coupons for free water and big discounts on the kind of tea that DSIL likes. Went to the post office to mail an early birthday/Christmas card and $$ to my brother. His birthday isn't until the 21st, but he's a first-of-the-month SS person, and Christmas is gonna be here well before he gets his Rocking Chair Money.

Saw Sir at the store. He's gonna be in tomorrow but not until after I'm gone because he has a meeting first that 30 miles away. Drat. It's always more fun to work when he's there.

Supper might be more spritz. Or maybe even some real food. Still deciding.

Hi all. 🙋‍♀️
I am still trying to cope with my persistent covid symptoms. It's been 2 full weeks now, with no let-up yet, in sight. 😪

I did a few tiny things today, in addition to my moaning. 🙄😵‍💫

Such as, i folded and put away a few pieces of clean laundry, printed out 2 medical receipts,
And potted 1 amaryllis 💡, ;)
that I got for myself, to have something fun to watch, for the next couple of weeks.
It has 1 bud stalk already just barely poking out today. :)

Oh, sorry Kaila! Hope you're better soon.

Do you have plenty of buckets?

I had several leaks start one year and it kept on raining too much to get any roofing done. Tarps don't help! Even after a full tearoff and reroofing I still cringe when we get heavy rain.

oh , don't suggest that..the last thing I'd need is a leak in my house..😧

I do have a small leak in the barn, so I have to have a bucket up there..it;s been there every day now for a month... never known so much rain .. we're the driest area of the UK normally..

Shopping day. Have to get stocked up before daughter arrives next week and we don't want to be shopping too close to Christmas. Tesco have an offer for half price beef joints (with club card) and Morrisons are advertising whole salmon at half price.

It's raining here too. We did have a small leak in roof above one corner of the lounge. Our neighbour, Bill the builder, discovered a small hole in a zinc gully and repaired it with an epoxy putty. Seems OK now.
