That sure does sound like an unpleasant and difficult outing to me. I hope it goes easier than it seems, and that the timing of the bus happens to be perfect, that the pipe remains attached till you get there,
And that the entire escapade doesn't take a terrible toll on your body pain levels.

Of course you need to get that done asap, and get your car back, we'll before going to your daughter's!

thanks Kaila... however I've been to my daughters' now, I went Wednesday and we had our Christmas lunch at the pub restaurant.

I do need to get the car back before Thursday tho' because I've got to be at the hospital to have both knees injected with Cortisone...

I'm dreading the cost tbh.. I;m sure they'll find other things that need doing...
 

I slept until 6:30. All night! If I got up during the night I don't remember it.

Stuff to do today instead of sitting around on my dead center. It's gonna be cold and blustery so a good day to stay indoors and get aforementioned stuff done.

Right now there are morning chores to attack.

this is my concern being a lone female.. they are so known for ripping off female customers..

In the past it hasn't been a problem, because if they told me I needed something that I didn't.. my mechanically minded husband would take over and 9 times out of 10 after a discussion with them, they would suddenly realise they were wrong, and the 'extra work'' was not urgent.. .. now on my own, I'm at the mercy of the sharks..

Yes. I feel I have a target on my back when it comes to car repairs. I wound up having to fix both wheels because the alternative of losing one while driving was pretty unappealing. But I'll never know if I needed to fix both.
 
I need them to fix or replace the exhaust , and do the other repairs that are needed before Wednesday night, because I need the car to get me to hospital on Thursday morning ... I hope they can do that.. but he seemed a bit taken aback when I said that to him... however, I did call them last week to try and book it in, but they were the ones who told me to bring it in today.. so I've not been able to use the car since last Wednesday
 
Kids, this is where my automotive certificate from a vocational school comes in handy. I didn't enroll to become a mechanic, only so that I could understand the ins and outs and basics of internal combustion engines when I worked for a diesel engine manufacturer. We also learned about transmissions, brakes, the whole nine yards.

Do any of it myself? Oh, hell to the no! But understanding what they're talking about and deciding whether or not a fix is really needed is helpful.

I used to change my own oil but stopped that years ago because...my manicure...

Okay then! So far I've managed to clean the litter box, make the bed, take a shower, get dressed. This is progress. Next I'm gonna go out and tape the annual Christmas card and tip to the trash can for the pick-up dudes, the unsung heroes of every household.
