What do You Do to Get Yourself out of a "Crap" Mood?

I'm sure you've read Desiderata but a reminder is always helpful:

I find this more helpful:

Deteriorata

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.
Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.
Remember The Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.
Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you -
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore. It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan.
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken.
Take heart in the bedeepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever fortune may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.
You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.
Therefore, make peace with your god,
Whatever you perceive him to be - hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up!

Usually, I just have to ride it out. If I'm down, nothing seems to help except a little time. If I'm pissed, I'll eventually simmer down. :D

I tell all the sweet people with all their helpful advice that I need a time-out.
Please don't "hit" back, anybody 😳
As soon as possible, I put on the rocking-est music I've got on the headphones and let it blast until my mood lightens. Usually takes about an hour.
If that doesn't kick it (which happens every now and then), it's time for chocolate and an old movie.
Then back to real life...

I just tried to get Absolutely Fabulous on Netflix but it's not happening. Goofle said I'd find it there. I made a conscientious choice not to fix that typo lol. I like it better lol. "Mom" isn't good. I just looked at it again but not as funny as I thought. Allison Janey stars in it.

I'll look into getting youtube. Thanks for the tip.

I know few things work for everyone but we don't always know until we try it on. The way I get out of a bad mood to sit down at my computer and start writing. Sometime I try to describe my mood, that seldom helps burt it nearly alway leads me to something else. Sometime I write something foolish. That always helps a wee bit until I land on something and get to thinking and writing and first thing I know, I'm planning on trying to write something that makes sense. My mood nearly always changes for the better. Almost always works for me. Try something different if what you're doing don't work. Bad decisions come out of crappy moods. Bad decisions may also come out of happy moods but they don't seem as bad.

Thank you all so much for helping people get out of a crap mood. Sometimes nothing helps me but going to sleep for several more hours. Making a change from my regular routine helps some. Like today I had the tv off when it's usually on all the time and just listened to the sounds of "silence." There really is no total silence so I was listening to the fan and my birds. It was pleasant.

I should go for a nice walk at the nearby park, then chop some wood when I get there! I know who the wood would be. I'd like to take a good whack at it! Just imagining doing that was nice anyways, I don't own an ax. :) I'm going to bookmark this page in my browser to look at when my mood stinks. :giggle:

Go for a walk in quiet nature if you can Ruthanne...in the woods, in the park...to the beach... ..or if you're a people person go where lots of people are and people watch!! Take your phone or camera and take pics of either one..nature or people!! perhaps drive to somewhere beautiful and just take in the loveliness of it all ..it's what I do...

Photography and music are my passion... so I can cheer myself up with either of those... but sometimes the only thing that can help is sharing your problems and getting people's advice, so you don't get everything enlarged and out of proportion in your head. Ignore the naysayers!!

if you can't do any of that, try exercise, it's a great wellbeing booster..people don't really realise just how much it does for your mood!

Hope you feel better soon... 🄰
Thank you. Looking forward to going to the nearby park once it cools some. It's been very hot and humid here. That walk sounds like a great thing, though, and with my furbaby who will also love it!

All good ideas you posted, thanks again. 🌹

I think @RadishRose will agree with me on this one.Depending on your sense of humor.

The British sit com Absolutely Fabulous will keep you laughing.

It's been a long time back but I remember crying many a times laughing so hard.
Haven't seen this and don't know where to find it. I have Philo and CBS for tv now. I don't have anything else that I pay for but also have some free apps like Pluto. I have to write that show down. Thanks.

I sure do agree @Seeker! I've been a big fan since the 90's when I used to watch it on a PBS station. In fact, for a few years in a row, PBS ran marathon Ab Fab all day on Mother's Day. I have recently watched re-runs on YouTube and still laugh!

Also Hyacinth on "Keeping Up Appearances"; side-splitting.

@Lara , there is an Ab Fab movie too, but the series entertains for a longer time.
LOL @ Goofle!

I don't do anything in particular as I am usually in a good mood, I have been known to take things apart and put them back together if I become depressed which I consider bad mood. I end everyday with a laugh as I watch an episode of Seinfeld or Family Guy,
