What do you do with the heels of a loaf of bread?

These days I hold on to them til I get a new loaf. Once in a while they're all I have so they make good grilled cheese or cheese and bacon toast.

If it's fresh bread I will use the heel as part of a sandwich, if it's a few days old I'll toast it but as we have three Golden Retrievers and they get a slice of toast with Vegemite each morning there is nothing that ever goes to waste.

Cheers.

Depends on the type of bread, usually toast and eat them, or make breadcrumbs but if I wait too long, they get tossed.

Dry and powder them add seasoning for breading veal, chicken, or pork chops. Dry cube & season them for croutons. Great for making bread pudding. I guess that could be considered being frugal I like to think of it as not wasting food.

I toast them , there's nothing tastier than a warm crust buttered , straight from the toaster .
