What do you miss and what would you change ?

Going on picnics to Epping Forrest in England Mum and Dad with rellies and taking a primus stove and bottles of water for the small kettle putting a blanket down and sitting with sarnies and my bottle of pop and a bag of Smiths crisps...happy days
Oh yeah Hollydolly my family going to Southend for the day and having a Rossi which was there back in the 5o's ☺
I was down at Epping forest just last month.,... didn't go in just drove past after being to epping, too many dead bodies in there (allegedly), I'd be scared I'd trip over one...

I bought a TV antenna and sat it on top of a cardboard box in the attic. We got about 7 channels and never ever got a bill.

The hand symbols are much more crude, childish and bordering obscene. Mods got it backward this time . Why can't we just use the word? It is not an obcenity.
I'm so naive sometimes, I don't even know what word you're talking about ... remember tho' admin told us he'd been warned by Google several times in the last week or so about things that have been posted on here which are unacceptable , so lets just accept things have to be a certain way so we don't lose the forum altogether after all @Matrix pays for this out of his own pocket so we can post for free... I miss the perception that the world was full of wonderful discoveries, and that they would gradually be opening up to me. I miss the feeling of safety in public places such as schools, churches, shopping sites, and roadways in a world and time when the possibility of being randomly shot dead did not even enter my mind. I miss when common courtesy was not uncommon, and "gutter language" was kept in the gutter...

When the norm was for mothers to stay at home, taking care of the house and family. These days you are made to feel lazy if you don't have a job outside the home.

One thing I miss, and this is probably silly, is the old-fashioned parking meters, where all you had to do was put a coin, or a few coins, in. The price was always clearly marked on the meter.

Now, it involves all sorts of technology, phones, credit cards, etc. I am never sure how to pay, or how much.

What I miss from the past and I wish the children of today could have, being safe playing outside, or going to see a movie in a theater, feeling safe in school and the Mall,or any place. neighbors who looked out for others and children living near them.Life truly was different then than now.

I miss gas station attendants..
They pumped yer gas, washed the windshield, checked the oil (And tire pressure if you asked them.) Then they'll get your payment as you just relax in your vehicle. 🚕...
No-one pumps fuel here anymore in the uk either, but in some fuel stations in Spain they still do.... and they're modern ones, not old fashioned as you might think they would be... :) I like to sit in the car and have someone else do it.. and take the money too

I might be a weirdo, but I like pumping my own gas. Always have gotten a bit of a kick out of it, probably because when I was a kid it was considered unladylike to do so. (That's my "you're not the boss of me" kicking in again.)

I think this thread needs to stay alive.
I put a comment on Yahoo news that "Her taste is exquisite and she is lovely". about a lady wearing a designer dress.
Yahoo would not printit because "We will not print your comment because it is offensive."
Seriously?

I miss the culture we had back then. It's a lot courser now. What once was frowned upon in the past has become the new normal, and everything is allowable so as to not offend any one.
