What Do You Want to Be Remembered For

There is no doubt in my mind my son will miss me a lot. I want to be remembered as being a person who knew how to love; who had a wacky sense of humor; who really cared about the great issues of my time.

I expect my husband, children, grandchildren and friends will remember that I loved them deeply, was generous and fun to be around, and threw parties at the drop of a hat.
Kids who worked for our company will always remember us as being patient and fun. A great first job. (Many are still in touch and tell us that's how they feel.)
Strangers might remember me for paying for their groceries when they were short.
Service people might recall that I was a generous tipper.

More than that I cannot ask.

I doubt any of us has, or will, author books or star in movies. After our passing our progeny and relatives will remember us for awhile, but memories fade and names carved in head stones have little or no meaning. However, centuries from now our thoughts inscribed on the pages of the Internet may be of interest to whatever it is that succeeds us. Unlikely? Who knows.

I am looking at a beautifully stitched sampler created nearly 200 years ago. How could the creator know how long her words would survive, and now in a medium she never dreamed of?

”Industry taught in early days not only gives the Teachers praise, but gives us pleasure when we view the work that innocence can do. Go on dear child learn to excel, improve in work and reading well, for books and works do both contend to make the Housewife and the Friend.
Elizabeth A Wiles Aged 10 - March 20th 1843”

What do you want to be remembered for, @hollydolly?
Not really sure tbh Star... Maybe that I was always generous to a fault, even when I had nothing myself, I would give all of it to someone else in more need.. For being an absolute Warrior when needed, someone who would do everything to protect family and friends.. for being loyal ( above all else) trustworthy and Brave... for being as good a mum as I knew how to be.. and doing it alone.. and most of all be remembered for producing the beautiful daughter I have

From my experience, all of those qualities are true of you. I'd also add empathetic, intelligent, charming and quick-witted to your list. Not to mention extremely well-shod and possessing a great eye for home decor.
