Young and elder people feel aches and pains, we all have anxiety, depression, elder and young are on different meds, etc. So my question is.. what does old feel like? How do we know when we are OLD?? At what age are you considered "Old". I understand aging but in my humble opinion, society has made "old" very negative. I still am in my right mind, still feel I am a diva with a nice body.. not bragging but its true. I feel I will still feel the same way regardless of my age. I refuse to give in to what society feels how we should feel at a particular age. Sounding off, now dropping the Mic.

No replies... I am with you guys, not sure what old age suppose to feel like. I am taking one day at a time and making the best of it regardless of my age. If I can do it, I will, if not, I won't. Aging gracefully is FREEDOM...PRICELESS!!!

We all age differently. For me, the biggest change in how I feel happened between 64 & 67.
As for "Feeling the same, regardless of your age," come back in 10 years & tell us all about it.
I understand that.. I don't feel the same as I did when I was 30 or 40, I have more wisdom and have learned to say NO, I will more than likely tell you I have much more wisdom.

I am 76 and though my body is ageing and have aches and pains arthiritis and diabetes2 I dont feel my age as my mind is way ahead and I think young. Age is just a number as the platitude goes.
YES YES YES YES YES.... That's how I feel. So glad to see your post with your age... I was feeling so all alone.. lol

Watching the Buckeyes and posting. Society has always belittled seniors. Mentally I am 16, physically I am 64. My body always aches, due to tennis, but I will never stop. When I die, I hope it’s on a tennis court.
When I am dying, I will be having a glass of wine, listening to music with a big smile..saying, "life was good to me". YESSSS!!!!

My Mind is still young but sadly my body has aged. I can't be as active as I was before. On the good side though is I'm still alive and that beats the alternative. I laugh when people call aging the Golden Ages to me it is the Rusty ages.
Yes.. I know the feeling. My mind is I can do this, my body is like, ok go ahead you will feel it in the morning.. and it never lied... LOL

I'm 74, the only thing I notice about aging is that it takes me longer to accomplish what I want to get done and I have stiffness and body aches.
I really don't know if I have more wisdom but I certainly have more patience and am less critical now than when I was younger.
I can definitely relate to the stiffness and body aches.... arrgghhh. I am still young at heart but some days my body doesn't agree...lol.

When I was in my 50's I felt invincible, like I would always be healthy and young. In my early 60's I bought this newly built house and it had a barren back yard, all dirt. I designed the landscaping and dug holes and planted over 100 plants and watered them weekly. I had some aches and pains but still felt good. When I hit 70 I suddenly felt like I had aged ten years, which I did physically, but the change came on suddenly.

When this summer I could not climb a kitchen chair to change the AC filter on the ceiling, I suddenly felt very old and frail. Old age sneaks up on you while you're feeling young in your mind. I hate to see what the next 10 years will be like, if I live that long. Time to do those butt exercises for strong legs to carry me. 😩

What old age feels like depends on how lucky you are with your health. I think I'm pretty lucky. I'm 80, I don't need any prescription drugs, and I could still run if I had to, but not very far. I tire quicker and it's harder to get up from a squat, but I can still do it. I have days when feel kind of puny, but no big deal.

But, I'm aware that time is running out. My situation could change drastically tomorrow. So, I try not to sweat the small stuff and enjoy what I have left. I don't think 60 is old.

I turned sixty this year and I have a bit of a different mindset than in the past. I love to garden and do landscaping, but now I wonder how much benefit I'll get from new trees that I plant on my property. I agree some aspects of aging is mindset, some gentics, and some unknown. I wholeheartedly believe one should be active in some manner as often as possible.

For me it was worth it. In late 2005 I planted a baby Chilean Mesquite. I chose it because it has no thorns and it's a beautiful bright green. That tree is now full grown and I just love looking at it, remembering how small it used to be and proud that I didn't kill it with bad care. It's almost like watching your child grow up (without any of the teenage drama).

When you turn 60, you're just one day older than when you were 59. I was slightly surprised when I found that I still felt the same way and wanted all the same things that I did when I was younger. In a way this is a problem as my body has aged a lot more than my mind. Still, here I am, growing old disgracefully - not having to care all that much if I'm upsetting the apple cart.

You can create a garden that will be a blessing after you have shuffled of the mortal coil. It can become a gift you give to people as yet unborn. They may never know you but will appreciate the beauty of the mature trees.
