What exercise have you done today?

according to my apple watch, i did 6410 steps today... i work in a senior center cafe

I don't have one of those new fangled gagets so I decided to do it old school using my watch with the second hand. On my walk this morning I took 6 separte one minute readings where I counted my steps. I got 90 steps on 3 of them and 86 steps on the other three. The trail I walked this morning is 2.1 miles long and I finished in 63 minutes. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/alabama/glenn-sebastian-nature-trail-white-route
I assumed the lower end of 86 steps a minute, multiplied that by 63 and got 5,418 steps. Then I divided that by 2.1 miles and got 2,580 steps per mile.

Excercise?! I have full body essential tremor shaking which starts me "exercising" from the first move I make right after waking up in the morning (or even from sitting here at my computer for a while), and on through the rest of the day. My problem is I make up for those calories burned by eating too many calories during the day, and not exercising. I have a flat concrete block I could step onto & off of over and over again to burn off those extra calories while watching an interesting T V show. Trouble is, there are no shows THAT interesting. 🤣
I am so glad I asked my doctor to refer me to a therapist. I have been exercising almost daily for a year and not achieving what I need to achieve. This therapist paid attention to what I was doing. I had my daughter use my phone to video what I am doing, at the therapist's request, instead of giving me a cookie-cutter list of exercises.

With a knowledgeable eye, she could see that I was not using the right muscles. Most of the time, I was using my back muscles instead of my weak hip muscles. Solution: use less weight and build up the hip muscles. I just got home from the gym, and I am so excited about the difference. I have regained hope that I will get stronger instead of weaker.

Two loads of laundry. Anytime I walk or carry I consider it exercise!
Many years ago, I microfilmed old newspapers for a college library. I am telling you this because one newspaper had a cartoon about a woman's fitness program. That was back in the day before all the appliances we have now. 😂 Scubbing clothes by hand, beating dirt out of a rug. Many had gardens too and had to grow and preserve enough to feed the family for a year.

Also, these folks had short life spans. They were not working like that in their 70s.

Hamstring curls, then a brisk mile walk. Later I did a partial upper body weight lifting workout doing dumbbell floor press, seated military press, standing dumbbell fly and skull crusher.

That's so cool Vida May. For years I managed to do sit-ups without ever using my abdominal muscles, just back, hips and momentum. Live and learn, huh? I hope to finally achieve the perfect figure by the time I'm 80.

I have been doing gentle exercises with 5 lb. weights. It has aggravated the arthritis in my shoulder. It is getting harder to find solutions that don't make matters worse. My blood thinner is good for my heart but terrible for my gut. Just venting because I want to!

60 minutes on the spin bike and two dog walks.

I'm going to have to face that I can't keep this pace up. I haven't been exercising, cept the dog walks, for a while and I've jumped back in at 60 minutes all at once. After three days of this, two treadmill and one spin bike day, I'm realizing it's not sustainable.

It's just been so nice to quiet my mind for that hour. -- I really need to get back to yoga.

None-the-less, I have Fibromyalgia and if I keep this up, I'm going to end up unable to move for a couple weeks. I've done this to myself before. I'm going to have to slow this down to 20 minutes at a time and build up to maybe a couple 20 minute sessions a day.

Thing is I suck at consistency and small intervals. Kind of an all-or-nothing person.

Seriously though, my hips hurt. :/

shopping day today and also a lovely drive around our lovely little town - always enjoy the sites and chatter - 3000 popn now poor thing used to be 20,000 in it's heyday?
