What exercise have you done today?

I am pathetically out of shape but am determined to get back to exercising. Wind chills are 35 below, so any outdoor activity is out.

I started yesterday working my way up to a regular 12–3–30 treadmill workout. (That's a 12% incline, 3 mph, for 30 minutes.) I was worried about overdoing it, so I started at 10 minutes, although I felt like I could have gone longer. I've been doing that in the early part of the day and doing a gentle 10-minute beginner workout on YouTube by John Wicks. I'm trying to go slowly and not overdo it and keel over with a heart attack.

I hope to work my way up to the level everyone else here seems to be at.

Kept my consumption down to 2,000 calories yesterday and was rewarded with a one pound drop to 201 lbs this morning.

Did two nature trail walks today.

1.25 miles in the morning, then 2 miles in the afternoon.

I started a zoom morning stretch every morning on the AARP site. But no classes on the weekends so I’ve been completing a 30 day Tai Chi for beginners on YouTube also. I usually walk my dogs about 1/2 mile every day. Outside weather is freezing right now but luckily, I live in a 4 story apartment building so I can walk my dogs in the halls from floors 4 to 1.

I do the same thing, @TinaM! Well, I don't have dogs, but when it's super-cold out, like it is right now, I will walk the hallways. My building is a low rise, with long corridors. The building also has a fitness room, but I find treadmills rather depressing (and I'm not in good enough shape yet to use an elliptical), so I try to mix it up a bit.

You'll have to get out into that freezing weather if your dogs want to do other things besides just walking

Over eat again yesterday. Damn I get hungry when the weather is cold. Who do I think I'm kidding. I get hungry any time. So back up to 202 Lbs this morning.

Did the 2 mile walk on the nature trail, then followed up with some dead lifts.

Weighed 202 this morning. Yesterday at the grocery store I saw that they had those Nathan's Jumbo Beef Hot Dogs on a Buy one, get one free sale. I partially restrained myself and only got one package because the store I go to (Publix) will still give you the same discount even if you only buy one. So I got them for 1/2 the usual price.

These were big suckers. Only 4 to a 12 ounce package. And a whopping 260 calories each. I told myself I would ration myself to only one a day but as soon as I got home that idea went right out the window. I binged ate all 4 of them. Hot dogs are to me like booze to an alcoholic. If they are in the house I will eat them until they are all gone. And they don't have to be those fancy Nathans All Beef Kosher ones either. Any hot dog will do. So I'm paying for it this morning.

This morning I did the full 2 miles on the nature trail but it's going to take a lot more than that to make my pennance.

I really need to be careful about my weight lest I get back to my all time high of 230 lbs. This was taken around Thanksgiving of 2010 when I was at that weight. As you can see I was quite portly.
I hear ya, bro. Yea, jumbo calories and jumbo sodium as well. I'm fighting like a drowning man to keep from backpedaling the 120 lb.s I lost from my all time 292.

It was 35 degrees today in Dallas, but I put on my heavy sweats and headed to the gym. I changed into shorts and a t-shirt inside. I used the stretch cage, walked a mile on the treadmill and worked out arms and legs and outer and inner thighs.

I'm frequently sore after I return from the gym, but that's a good thing.

201 lbs this morning. Dropped one in spite of my having eaten my way through yesterday. Water weight fluctuation I guess. No walk today since I don't have any of those Nanook of the North fur lined snow walking in boots, but I did do some bench presses in my utility room with my little space heating going full blast.

I'm still doing my 12–3–10 treadmill walk followed in the afternoon by the 10-min YouTube beginner workout.

Tomorrow will be one week since I started, so I think I'm gonna get crazy and bump my treadmill workout to 12–3–12. :devilish:

I'm determined to take things slowly because in all my previous efforts I started too fast, got discouraged, and quit.

I'm looking forward to being able to walk outdoors again. Which for this area will probably be June. 😁

Busy day today. . . I didn't get to the treadmill, but I did squeeze in my 10-minute YouTube fitness video. That's better than nothing, I guess.
