Do you find it much easier with the trap bar? I have thought of buying one. I only have a straight bar at the moment.
With the regular deadlift bar, especially if lifting heavy, there are multiple things to remember and you can scrape your shins or bang your knees. With the trap bar you more naturally squat and lift up. I like it better. Nearly all the same muscle groups are worked.

They are easy to make. You don't need to buy one.
I made one like in the photo for ~ $33. Here's the Youtube video <-- with instructions.
It was too big for me so I shortened the length to 3 feet, and reduced the width by several inches.
Overall it weighs 22.5 pounds, so I added 1.25# weights to diagonal corners to make it an even 25 pounds.
Also I didn't put the little bolts on the ends. Any odd weights are simply put on diagonal corners, which works fine.

I started doing deadlifts with a regular bar, 8 times in August, then 5 times in September with the frame.
So far I haven't done any in October. The frame is better because the shins are free, and the weight is balanced.
