What exercise have you done today?

I've upped my walking to TWO 20 minute walks each day. I now do one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I'm age 90, married with 2 kids, 6 grandkids and 3 great grandkids. I try to play chess at Chess.com and Civilization VI at Steam.com every day. I have no serious illnesses. However, I do have a big pot belly.

I would be interested in playing Civilization VI multiplayer. If I get that going, I would report how the game plays out here.

Walked 2 miles in the neighborhood at my usual snail's pace in 51m 44s.

It's kind of depressing to look back at how much I have slowed down over the years. Back when I was in my 30's and running was in vogue (maybe it's still is in vouge I wouldn't know) I ran many of those 10K fun runs. I was training by running 10K three times a week at just under 60 minutes. I found that if I could do that then on I could break 50 minutes on race day. Not exactly great times but way better than what I could do now some 40 years later.

Bench Presses 15 sets at 3 min intervals

I do these twice a week. Every workout I add 5KG to one set and do one less rep with that set. I'm trying to slowly get back to somewhere near where I was before I injured my right shoulder last year.

When I'm tired and distracted, as I am today, I find myself "waking up" at certain points in my workout with no real memory of the last set. Muscle memory is taking over. In part I feel like, well, that was easy, but I know it's a much better, deeper workout when I'm focused.

On the other hand, I could give myself credit for doing my workout when I'm tired. So, there's that.

This feels a little self indulgent to say, sorry about that in advance, and isn't exactly exercise, but I think, maybe a result of ongoing exercise. I've always been able to hop up onto the washing machine when I needed to, which isn't often, of course, because how many occasions call for that?

But I haven't done that in a while and my hips have been bad lately, getting a bit numb at times. Last night, I noticed one of my anklet socks (why is it always socks?) fall behind the machine when I was loading it. There's no way to see back there without being on the top of the, well actually, the dryer which is next to the washing machine, but same height.

The point is that I wondered for a second if I was going to be able to hop up there. I'm only five feet tall so it's a pretty good hop for me. I did it though, with no trouble. Just hopped up onto the dryer as I've always done in the past.

I mean, I'm 61 and my hips hurt so I'm just thinking that my exercise has to be helping me out here. I was just really pleased about it - sitting on top of the dryer all smiley. :giggle:
