What have you bought recently?

@David777 I haven't been skiing in 16 years, and when I did ski, it was limited to cross country because...I have an aversion to pain and am not particularly well-coordinated. Not that you can't get hurt cross country skiing, but...

Today I frittered away $20 on a dozen gorgeous yellow roses to give DD. Why? Because a customer was passing through the bakery and had roses in her cart, and I could see the big red "reduced" sticker on the cellophane. I ran right over to the floral department where the roses just leaped into my arms saying "Take us home!" So I did. They were not only reduced, but I got the employee discount as well. Woohoo. I told Sir I wasn't really shopping while on the clock because those roses jumped out of their bin at me. It's not like I was actually looking for them...;) And I didn't check out and pay for them until I was off the clock on my way out the door. (Whaddaya mean, splitting hairs?)

I told DD they were for Valentine's Day but early since the price of roses will be sky high on Valentine's Day. Never mind that they were reduced because their sell-by date is today... It's the thought that counts, right?

The Walmarting has been done, and if I'm really lucky, won't need to be done again for a month. My checking account is now thisclosetozero until Tuesday when the Fed gives me a small refund. Fine. There's nothing I was going to buy anyway, and I have cash if needed.

Growing up this town used to shopping in the various dress shops, shoe stores.
Was a stuck up brat who thought homemade clothes weren't "good enough".

Never thought at this age I would shop in the antique stores, thrift shops, salvage stores.
And be happy with what I found.
I never thought I'd be satisfied with thrift shops and even Walmart clothes. Turns out, I am.

Refuse to pay full price for anything anymore. Heck, I've even found new clothes with the tags still on them at Goodwill. And if it's something I really, really want and can't find, look on Amazon and only buy if there's a discount.

I swear I've turned tighter than bark on a tree, and now that I know Kroger's "reduced" shelves are stocked with products that haven't expired yet, buy those, too.

here in the Uk, that used to be the case that often we'd find clothing which still had it's original tags on, but aside from that most shops stocked good quality second hand clothes.

Aside from dropping off donations.. I haven't looked at the clothes in any Charity shop for a long time, but I have it on good authority that the quality is poor now generally.... and overpriced...

After hearing bird chirps last night upstairs, this morning went over to a large Home Depot store 3 blocks away and bought a couple $17 Kidde smoke alarms as one of mine recently with a 10 year old sealed battery went low voltage end of life. In our city, we need to have them in most rooms, so I have 5.
I hate those dreaded chirps which always occur in the middle of the night.

I said I wouldn't spend any money today, but that was a lie. I spent $10 on a different kind of stuff to blue my hair. The product I've been using for the past five years or so has been discontinued. There's a little left, but only enough for one more time. After that, I'll be using the new stuff (and hope it works as well as the old).

Much to my surprise, there's a beauty supply store just a couple of doors down from where I work. I've been living in this neighborhood for 15 years and working at Kroger for more than two and never noticed it. Hm. If the new stuff is okay, at least I won't have to go far to replenish it.
