What have you bought recently?

Costco is worthwhile. I buy their roast chicken, then when I get home, I take all the meat off and put it in individual portions just the right size for me, freeze them, and whenever I want cooked and seasoned chicken for any dish or just a sandwich, I just thaw one out and use it. It lasts about 2 or 3 months.
I got their Visa card (Citi Visa), and I use it for absolutely everything. I just pay off the balance every month, so there is no finance charge, and at the end of the year, Costco sends me a check for around $250 just for using it, and that's in addition to the Costco end of year check that they send you just for shopping there, which covers the cost of membership.
If you don't want to buy more groceries with either of the checks, you can just go into the store, buy a single item, and they give you the rest back in cash. It's a fantastic deal all the way around.

it's quite Ironic that we have Costco here.. when it's an American store... and you don't have it there :(..I always presumed it was pretty much everywhere in the USA
Your post piqued my interest so I did a little digging:

There are 587 Costco warehouses in the US. By far, the most are in California (133). Second is Texas with 36. North Carolina has 10.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1232513/number-of-costco-warehouses-us-by-state/
and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costco

There are 29 in the UK.
There are 22 Costco Business Centers in the US and a few in Canada.

I'm very fortunate to live within 10 minutes of two Costcos and 20 minutes of a Costco Business Center.

well with only 29 in the whole of the UK, I'm very fortunate to live relatively close to 2 of them...

I wish we had Cosco. We have Sam's and it's OK but I hear much better things about Cosco. I think they offer a lot o healthier foods.
I had a Sam's Club membership (plus Costco) a long time ago, but preferred Costco for most things. Recently one of my CCs offered a one year membership to Sam's for $10 so I bought it and have gone once. Maybe spent $30 there.

Definitely not as good as Costco for my needs.

I spent money again. Ensure, kitty treats, kitty litter, artificial tears all at Walmart.

Three sacks of mulch, three sacks of garden soil, a gallon of 30% vinegar, all to be used in the garden. No flowers. I wanted to get some flowers, but it was hot 🥵 and DD didn't want to trot up and down the aisles with me to look at them. Just as well because I still have $45 left on the gift card to use for maintenance stuff when it's needed.

Only went to one of the two garden centers because...hot🥵, etc. There's $50 on that card.

So @hollydolly I didn't spend money on flowers today. (Make a note of that.)

That's true, but I have to pay for the cards! I buy them at the store where I work because there are 2x fuel points added whenever I buy gift cards.

The way that works is I get a point for every dollar spent. For every 100 points, it's 10 cents/gallon off gas at their fuel center.

DD, DS and I all use the same "member" account to pay for stuff so it doesn't take long for the fuel points to add up.

But yes, I have to buy the cards. So there.

My wife had a surprise package yesterday, I treated her to a nightdress. An eighty-three year old nightdress. During WW2 rationing was on everything, not just food. People learned to be resourceful, for example this lovely nightie is made out of parachute silk, my lady squealed with delight when she recognised what it was.

What a stunning, thoughtful gift.... :giggle:

Just far enough to make it not worthwhile

$35 usd and some change

Hate the price
but love the screws (gotta have 'em)
Building a deck
Best screws ever for building decks. Once you use torx drive, you never want to use anything else.

I let my Costco membership go because I wasn't using it much at all.

I have heard good things about their eye glass department. My subscription is complex and so expensive at the eye doctor. I don't know if they could accommodate it there. I think you can take a prescription in from anyplace. Am I correct on that?

I could get a copy of my prescription, take it over and talk to them. If so, I'd be willing to get a membership again. I'd like a pair of readers. I have progressives but wouldn't mind some extra magnification. I didn't get a reader this time due to how much I paid for my progressives.

Who uses their eye class department?
