What have you bought recently?

I know what you mean - the loss of Wilko and of Clas Ohlson before it was a real annoyance. Those stores sold things you might need any time, and were in town centres, so no need to drive out of town (not that I drive anyway).
yes but even B&Q, for example are selling most things online rather than in store.

I needed a simple outdoor broom.. saw that they had it in store on their website....so I delberately drove to a larger branch in St Albans rather than a local store.. only to be told when I got there that they don't stok it in store, that I nneeded to order it online. I told them that it clearly said on their webbsite that they had it in store

the kiddie customer service female patronised me by talking to me like I was a child, and explaining how buying something online worked... she got both barrells from me !...

I almost bought a thing at $88.88, a pretty good deal but I didn't need it and the quality is a crapshoot on something you haven't found reliable reviews for.

Yesterday it rose to $139.99, making up my mind to pass it by. :ROFLMAO:
So today they are asking $98.88 instead. How much of this goes on? It sure feels like a game.

Maybe I should look for price monitoring tools that can take into account coupons, promo codes, and so on - to avoid getting ripped off.

..or you could buy it when it's at it's lowest price, wait for them to infflate it by 40 % the next week.. then sell it online at an extra 20 % of what you paid for it..

I suppose there are people spending all day doing just that. Similar to those who buy old crap at yard sales, dust it off, and sell it on eBay.

I do order things online, just not from Amazon. E.g. from small bookshops, craft stores. Sometimes delivery can be fun ... like a painting supplies cabinet that was delivered to the same flat number but in a totally different block some distance away.

I've been to Lowe's garden center. Visited the "Clarence" shelves first and got a buncha foliage plants to put here and there for contrast among the flowers. And some coleus for $1 each. And more sunpatiens that were marked down, too. I like Clarence a whole lot❤️, and so does my checking account.

The bedding plants have been planted, but the foliage plants need to be repotted. Tomorrow.

Escaped somewhat lighter in the bank account, but there's still $250 left to play with from the money I gave myself last month.

The Bay, our only major Canadian department store left is closing. Today I took a deep breath and bought some products while those brands are still available. Spent a fortune. The sheets will be put away until needed. A feather pillow. 3 petite pullovers and a pair of petite jeans. Today the discounts went to 20% - big whop, but I decided if I wanted them, today was the day.

Bought a Garmin In-reach mini which is a compact satellite communication device primarily for emergencies for the many times we're beyond cell service. Needed it and I'm damn sure it's not made in the USA so the time was ripe to buy. It's 4"x 2" x1" and weighs less than 4oz so easy to carry on a motorcycle ride, a hike, or side/backcountry skiing.

My recently acquired generic $85 'TVEars' headphones went south for the spring >summer>fall>& winter & ever. I'll be darned if I'm going to fork out another $85 for a 2nd set.of headphones. I discovered I still have access to Prime ($11.58 mo), Netflix ($23.99 mo), STARTZ ($2.99 moX3) & TUBI (Free). I signed into my Netflix account and watched a movie on my Linux driven laptop. I did test both STARTZ & TUBI, - OK.

It wasn't quite like watching the 50 inch ROKU - it works, but with my bad hearing I'm kind of limited in my viewing selections & maintain harmony with the other members of my household. I did have adequate headphones to keep the sound down. I unplugged the now defunct set of 'TVEars' placed them in a box ready to dispose of them. The 'bad' ones were a cheaply made foreign set.

Tuesday my new rescue dog had her dental. She lost 9 teeth, a growth on her gum and I’m 2k poorer. With what is happening economically I am just buying things that I need and nothing else. Prices unfortunately are going to skyrocket unless the tariffs are rescinded.
oooh it's so expensive when the animals get poorly, I know .. but what are you to do ?..My daughter was the same she just spent a couple of thousand when her little chihuahua was taken into Doggie hospital recently for 2 days to figure out why she wasn't eating, and losing weight fast..

Yesterday I ordered something I've wanted for quite a while. Son's partner has one and it makes amazing coffee. I love coffee. I love amazing coffee! I'm looking forward to (with some practice) making amazing coffee! It's coming this afternoon!:coffee::coffee::coffee:

De'Longhi La Specialista Metal Barista Pump Espresso Machine, Bean to Cup Coffee and Cappuccino Maker.

My daughter wouldn't be able to survive without her coffee maker...in the mornings..

Me..I'm not a coffee drinker apart from the odd Costa... so it would be wasted on me
