What have you bought recently?

Thinner in the bank account yet again. 10 more blue star creeper, 10 more impatiens, a dozen begonias, some phlox, a bright purple trailing verbena, 10 tall snapdragons, and a pretty yellow lupine.

So far the snapdragons, impatiens, phlox and blue star creeper have been planted.

I've tried lupine down here before, but it's really not happy in our heat. This time I'm going to plant it in a pot and move it to the shade under the magnolia after it's done blooming. Maybe it'll work. We called lupine "horsetails" in Michigan. They started popping up and blooming before the ground was even thawed and appeared in pink, white and blue. I've never seen a yellow one before.

My flower allowance is almost gone :(. My bank account is getting thinner by the hour💸💸. It's still March, but there's only about $250 left in what I was allowing myself for the garden this season. Looks like my savings is going to take a hit...

Trying to hold that line on most spending in 2026. No particular reason why, just noticing the steady drip, drip, drip out of my checking account for impulse buys of this and that.

Mostly avoiding Costco and letting things languish in my Amazon cart for a few weeks before sure helps. After a while, I wonder why I wanted most of them. Like I said, impulse buys. We're not discussing necessities like @Georgiagranny's flowers!

This is something I have vowed to keep an eye on, too. Books on Amazon are my biggest weakness. I should really turn off my one-click settings. I always justify a purchase by thinking "Well, I almost never go out, just to coffee with friends and an occasional movie or dinner with my younger daughter," but I need to be cautious with that type of thinking.

I never buy books anymore. I use the public library for ebooks and hard copies.

I do the exact opposite. from a tiny child my real only joy in life was the school library.. then the public library.. and right throughout my adult hood..

In the Uk now local councils have shut down hundreds of Libraries or reduced the amount of books to make space for huge numbers of Public computers..

The vast majority of books which are available are just Fiction.. and or children's books..

The noise from the computer keyboards the ''quiet rule'' now non existent.. little children allowed to run around screaming... put me off libraries now for life..

I buy all my books now...

How very sad. My condolences to your population. Well stocked, well run public libraries are crucial to an educated population, and should serve patrons from infancy through our last days.

Yes it's actually heartbreaking.... it's not something I would ever in all my life have expected to happen.

In our little market town.. we had a beautiful library had been there for decades... historical.. great big stone steps inside like a castle to reach the second floor which house the study area, reading nooks, non fiction, newspaper archives .. religion etc.., and it was much a pleasure to visit the library and sit in one of the reading nooks and just enjoy the whole atmosphere as it was to check out books..

The council in their infinite wisdom closed it down.. the building was perfectly sound but some one at the council decided they could save business rates by closing it and renting it out to a private company as offices..

Instead they opened what could only be described as a Box... laughingly known as a library, which holds a fraction of the original stock... and a third of it taken up by public computers

All I ever talk about is guitars...

Since I started playing bass I (foolishly) thought I wouldn't need a 6 string hanging about so I used my Squier Affinity Stratocaster as part of a trade for one of my basses. Now I know that I just have to have a 6 string available when I want to play around or work on my life long dream of being able to play the guitar solo from 25 or 6 to 4. (I've made it to the first 8 measures so far! :) )

So I went and bought a Squier Bullet Telecaster Red Sparkle Limited Edition. It's the lowest of the low end Squiers - but, after a good setup, is more than adequate for my level of noodling around. I got a good deal at a pawn shop. The picture doesn't show the red sparkle very well - but it's cool.

My daughter plays Bass guitar.. well not now, but she used to in her younger years... She had her own band, several of them in fact... and they played big venues as well as local ones..

She had Gibson & Fender Guitars

Absolutely done carrying home 5 gallon water jugs! My husband's back can't take it, and neither can mine.

Did a lot of research on my own, and with the help of ChatGpt - and this was the winner. Hopefully it will be as good as it sounds. ;)
