What is the best snack cake in your opinion?

My very favorite cake is old fashioned applesauce cake. I love that cake because it's tasty & moist & doesn't need frosting. It's great just the way it is.

What's your favorite snack cake?

oops I think I put this in the wrong section...sorry

I love banana cake for the same reason you like applesauce cake.moist and needs no frosting and I usually end up with a couple of over ripe ones which I put in the freezer,so I can bake at my leisure. Before I had to be on a gluten free diet I also loved store bought drakes ring dings. Only bought them once in a great while for a special treat.

I like a nice spice cake, and can eat it without frosting, but I do love frosting on my cakes. I made a mix from the health food store a couple of times in the past, limited ingredients and no chemical additives. I added more spice to it and swirled some unsweetened natural Apple Butter throughout it. Was really yummy, doesn't last long in my house.

My all time favorite is chocolate zucchini bread. My mom used to make it and I still do once in a while. No need for frosting... I love all the above cakes too. Yum.

BW, in case you're wondering about a few of the replies; to many Americans, a "snack cake" is what you'd find at the grocers or convenience store, wrapped in cellophane or in a box of 8 to 12. I have a weakness for just about any kind of cake that doesn't have fruity bits in it, but my favorite snack cake is the Hostess Cupcake. A classic!

Same here, Ike. Orange being my second favorite.

I was so wary of the orange ones. They were on the shelf for years* before I tried one, only because our local market had run out of chocolate. My verdict; they were pretty good! Not chocolate, but not bad.

(*These days, they could literally sit on the shelf for years!)

The "snack" part threw me off on the first go 'round. If it's just regular cake, then this is my favorite:

Little Debbie anything...they give them out at blood drives here. But in rural PA there was a blood drive and a homemade apple cake...I will post that recipe tomorrow, you would donate a gallon for this cake.

To me a snack cake is one made in a single layer 9 inch square pan. My favorite is a Wacky cake because you mix it right in the pan with a fork. We always add a little cinnamon to the cocoa powder for a little extra flavor and use 2 Hershey bars on top to frost. Just break p the bar while the cake is still warm then spread it out when it gets soft. Yum

Sounds like it's to die for!!
