What kind of American/Brit/French/ect., are you? And does it matter?

My great grandparents came to the USA from Montreal and Quebec. Most of people in my town came from Canada. When I was a tyke, my grandparents spoke fluent French and had a French accent when they spoke English. They gradually lost their French accent and acquired a Massachusetts one. My parents could speak French, but only spoke it when they didn't want me to understand what they were saying. I can't speak French, yet I feel that the heritage of my ancestors makes me a unique American. I'm a Mass. born, French Canadian-American. While nobody really cares, it does mean a lot to me.

My family was a combination of English, French, and German.

The people matter very much to me but where they came from or when doesn't make much if any difference.

I was born in England and had a strong accent when we moved to Canada .
My parents still have their strong accent but I lost mine long ago. Now I have a Canadian accent ‘eh and know very little French even though I took it in school. I’m not completely sure of my bloodline since my parents disconnected from their families and we don’t know the relatives. They were barely mentioned.

I am native born Australian of Anglo/Celtic roots.
My ancestors all came to Australia in the first hundred years.
It appears that three were transported as convicts
and one deserted from Her Majesty's navy in 1872.

French,Polish,German.
This is what I was told and some research . Did the geneaolgy as far back to 1770, and hit a brick wall..

I am the same as Hollydolly, my grandparents were,
Irish, Scottish, Scottish & Scottish, I was born and
raised mainly in Scotland. I still have my accent, yet
I have lived out of Scotland longer than I lived in it.

Yes it does matter, especially on these small islands.

Mike.

It doesn’t matter to me

Interesting conversation......That matters

Scottish, English, German, Cherokee and Black. One of my sisters did a DNA test and it came back with a little Bangladeshi thrown in for comic relief. What the heck? Bangladeshi? I'm reserving judgement on THAT one.....

Black is a color....not an ancestral heritage.

Third generation Japanese-Canadian with a small percentage of Korean thrown into the mix, as well as indigenous, according to 23andMe. Waiting for my daughter's DNA results, as her father is Scottish/English with some other nationalities. Our family is like the United Nations :)

I know my heritage, but couldn't care less, unless knowing the same gives me clues about possible diseases I may be genetically predisposed to. I yam who I yam, Popeye!

Parents both born in Scotland.
Myself and my brothers, cousins, etc.all born here.
