What kind of car worth $142 million?

Mercedes-Benz confirmed on Thursday that it recently sold the world's most expensive car. A very rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe that had been kept in the German automaker's collection was sold to a private owner for €135 million, the equivalent of $142 million. That price makes it the most expensive car known to ever have been sold, according to Hagerty, a company that tracks collector car values.
Money from the sale will be used to establish the Mercedes-Benz Fund, a global scholarship fund, Mercedes said in an announcement.

How is this evidence ? Are they not permitted to spend their money as they choose ?

Oh, I get it ... they should give their 'extra' to you ....... even though you have done nothing to earn it.
I was kind of joking, but I do think the rich probably have more tax avoidance loopholes than they should.

I am not asking for anyone's money, extra or not, but we could use some deficit reduction. I have and continue to pay a lot of tax, more than I collect in any government benefits.

I agree with your first sentence , but if they are doing it legally .... can't really blame them. This is why i support a flat tax , a decided percent from everyone.

"but we could use some deficit reduction."

I just do not see it as a responsibility of the rich & their personal gain .... to satisfy the national deficit .

If we take away the incentive of personal gain [riches] the rich would stop creating employment for others ........ and the taxes they pay. And IMO raising their tax to a ridiculous amount would do just that .

If it was gifted to me, without gift tax, and could be sold in a day for $100,000.00 cash... hmmm... yep, I'd take it!

I believe that‘s what we used to call A gull wing coupe. Back in the late 60’s I was driving on a rural road in France and saw one for sale on a used car lot — $3,000. Even then that was cheap, but it probably needed work and I had a car. Oh well. (-8

No, but they should at least pay as much as you and I, don't you think?

I don't know what their financial situation is , and it is none of my business ... IMO .

If they are meeting the requirement set down by the IRS ? Then that is all they should be held to.

Do you know for a fact that .... 'they' are paying less ? If so, how do you know ? Or do you just assume so because they appear to have more 'spending' money than you / most of us ?
