What kind physical environment do you thrive in?

I'm happiest at latitude - 35.9 degrees and close to sea level, which is what I have living in Sydney.

Summer can be hot and humid, unlike the more extreme heat of the inland, but you can escape the heat fairly easily by taking a cold or tepid shower. It can be a problem getting to sleep at night during a heat wave.

It is the cold that I cannot take. I sit inside and hug the heater, avoiding the cold winds coming down from the west as much as possible.

Modern housing in Australia is not well designed for temperature extremes. I couldn't begin to imagine living anywhere where it snows.
 

I love winter. It's a time when everything is sleeping, warm and cosy. I have a small place so it's easy to heat. I make soups and stews, lots of comfort food. In the summer and fall I am always spinning wool and in the winter knitting it into thick warm mitts or hats...and of course slippers and socks.
Some of my family went west on the Oregon Trail in covered wagons so I guess I get that pioneer feeling honestly.

I have never liked the heat even when I was young. I went into premature menopause after surgery.
I didnt get the hot flashes or any of that. My metabolism changed and now Im just hot all the time.
I was hoping that when I got older I would turn into one of those old ladies thats cold all the time.
No such luck. #sigh

I know what you mean about Florida. The husband booked us on a January cruise that left out of Florida.
He told everyone I whined about the heat the whole time. I am not cruise material. I dont swim. I hate being in the sun. And I dont gamble. Also just stopping over in Florida and I know I never want to move there. :D

My flower beds are full of weeds too. Theyre disgraceful. I just cant be outside. After 30-40 min the asthma kicks in and I cant breathe.
The heat gives me a headache and makes me light headed too. Its just me here. I figure I will get to them when I get to them.
As soon as it cools off I will be mulching everything to within an inch of their little flower lives. :D

Although I live in a small town, I spent so many years living and visiting in large cities, New York City, London, Los Angeles etc. So I'm used to hot summers, though I hate them, and mild winters that I loved. But in a small town, the winters are worse, but because of global warming, they are not as bad as when I was a child. Also, because of global warming, it's getting hotter in the summertime, then it was hen I was a child.

I prefer the temperatures anywhere from the mid 50's to the high 70's, Fahrenheit.

Yes, central heating not needed either so, lower bills in the warm weather :)

I don't thrive in any environment. I'm 75 and the word is survive, not thrive. I do best at around 68F, 61% humidity, sunny days, breeze at less than 2 mph, and lots of birds singing. If my husband is napping, but not snoring, that is another plus. I also do best with scantly clad walks on the beach, seeing baby ducks, and being in a light rain. Also pumping my arm at a passing barge, trying to get them to blow their fog horn, now that is living large and may take surviving into thriving.

I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to mold--other family members were and they say it runs in families--and a co-worker who is allergic to mold so before she moved here was living in the high desert because she thought it'd help and was feeling worse and worse consulted an allergist who told her she'd moved to one of the last places in the world she should've moved to. She said "I thought the desert would be great because mold loves humidity and moisture so much."

But the doc said, "That's the misconception everyone has about mold allergies. Mold does not love humidity and moisture. It merely likes humidity and moisture. What it loves the best is heat and even warmth. And since it's always at least warm and usually hot here, we've got mold all over the place here."

And an article I read recently written by an allergist about mold allergies said the same thing; the author said that people with mold allergies should live somewhere where it's both cold and dry all the time and since the only 3 places on the planet like that are the North Pole, the South Pole, and northern Greenland, "people with mold allergies should just stay the hell inside." (Last line of the article.)
 
Most of my life was spent in warmer climes. Now, I will take the snowy winters with mild summers over the opposite. Funny thing is, the people here whom I know well and have lived here for most of their lives, hate the cold snowy winters and love when there is a hot summer day.

If you have lived most of your life in a hot climate, perhaps you now prefer the winters. And the opposite.

Not too cold (-20C-4F) winter, low humidity and not too hot (+32C/90F) summer (although it is getting hotter where I live). Breezes are nice in summer. If I have to settle on a perfect outdoor temp in the shade, it's probably 22C/72F, but one cannot possibly have that all through the months.😁
