What scientific discovery would change the course of humanity overnight if it was discovered?

There are likely many "discoveries" coming that will substantially change human lives. Just think of all the technology that has been developed in the past century. If someone from the late 1800's were suddenly cast into our world, they would be completely lost. At the pace that things are changing, life in the 22nd century will almost be unable to imagine.....IF people don't totally screw up the planet by then.

The planet is fine..it will revolve as normal. If anything, people will screw up each other... jmo.
