What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

I watched “Bugonia” on Peacock… a new movie.
It was one of the most disturbing movies that I’ve ever seen but I couldn’t miss a second of it. It was interesting. A must see.
I had Peacock open when I read this so, looked it up. Really interesting premise.

"Two conspiracy-obsessed men kidnap the CEO of a major company when they become convinced that she's an alien who wants to destroy the Earth."

I am in the middle of watching The Great Flood, a Korean film which Netflix touts as among the Top 10 in 90 countries. That's not why I started watching it though. It is a B-disaster movie, but it's also about AI stuff. It is engaging, I'll give it that.

"Wuthering Heights" Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. I am a big fan of Oberon and I think her acting in this is absolutely superb. Then of course there are the brilliant lines written by Emily Bronte and the lavish, dramatic production. One of the very best pictures from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Is this [The Maltese Falcon} the best script ever?
I love it, too, but I think my favorite Bogart movie is "Key Largo." He plays such an impressive man in that one and I like the way everyone's ethics about guns and violence are put to the test.

I also like, "High Sierra," a lot because of Ida Lupino's great female character, and "In a Lonely Place," because of Gloria Graham's vulnerable woman. The co-star always counts for a lot with me, but I think Key Largo has such a great cast and his part is so strong that it's always going to top my list.

Last night I watched Lilly on Netflix. Based on the true story of Lilly Ledbetter, an American woman who sued Goodyear Tires because she was discriminated against and paid far less than her male counterparts.

I thought it was excellent as did several friends who'd highly recommended it to me.

In the Fade, on Prime Video. Excellent movie!
Out of nowhere, Katja’s life falls apart when her husband Nuri and little son Rocco are killed in a bomb attack. Her friends and family try to give her the support she needs, and Katja somehow manages to make it through the funeral. But the mind numbing search for the perpetrators and reasons behind the senseless killing complicate Katja’s painful mourning, opening wounds and doubts. Danilo, a lawyer and Nuri’s best friend, represents Katja in the eventual trial against the two suspects: a young couple from the neo-Nazi scene. The trial pushes Katja to the edge, but there’s simply no alternative for her: she wants justice.

I like movies about revenge.

Affleck & Damon in The Rip. An action movie that a podcast host described as all being realistic. Not in my world. Still enjoyed it for the entertainment.

My wife and I are watching 1955's "Love me or Leave me" starring Doris Day and James Cagney.
I think Doris Day was underrated as an actress. She got plenty of recognition as a singer, but she generally wasn't taken too seriously as a fine actress. I suppose it was because of the comedy films she did. I thought her work in The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), and Midnight Lace (1960) was first rate.

Drama acting aside, I thought Pillow Talk (1959) was one of the great romantic comedies. It still cracks me up today.

Percy vs. Goliath on Prime Video. Good movie!
Academy Award® Winner Christopher Walken, Zach Braff and Christina Ricci star in the true story of a small-town farmer (in Canada) taking on one of the largest agricultural and food manufacturing corporations. Percy Schmeiser (Walken), a third-generation farmer, is sued by a corporate giant for allegedly using their patented seeds. With little resources to fight the giant legal battle, Percy joins forces with up-and-coming attorney Jackson Weaver (Braff) and environmental activist Rebecca Salcau (Ricci) to fight one of the most monumental cases all the way up to the Supreme Court.
