squatting dog
We don't have as far to go, as we've already been
- Location
- Arkansas, and also Florida
Yupit was hard to beat a common 1963 VW beetle.
'67 Red VW Bug new off the showroom floor $1,600+.i have to say a VW beetle for me, too. the first time we every had 2 cars was when i was in college. dad brought a brand new, green beetle... not much more than $1200 total. thought i knew how to drive stick until i encountered my first UP hill start! i remember it was the ONLY car to start after a big snow storm in the Poconos.
had a bright orange super beetle (72) that we drove to Florida on first trip to Disney World. a car without AC is horrible, whether in SE PA or 1500 miles away in the middle of Florida, but remember we didn't spend much more than $50 for gas on the entire trip.

Love that car, too @CinnamonSugar ! This was the first car we owned after we married. Ours was the 1965 model (bought it in 1969), white with powder blue interior.
i learned to drive on a dodge dart with that push-button transmission. probably close to perfect car to learn on and take that driver's test. not very big. probably a 6 cylinder. power steering but regular brakes.I'm torn between the 1965 Chevy Impala SS & The 1965 Dodge Dart (pushbutton transmission)
The Impala could haul 3-4 bodies in the trunk, but the dart was a nimble little car great for parking in small areas
I had a gold colored one, Z28, same year.We ordered a new 1978 Camero, saffron in color with white leather seats. That car would take me anywhere I wanted to go, never stuck in the snow or ice. Boy, did I enjoy that vehicle. Of course, it could have been the time and place for me, too. Young, happy and in love with my hubby. Picture below is the car described, but not ours.View attachment 258727
Yup, had..the first..'64 Mustang...Chantilly Gold
LOL!!! I started at the bottom post and worked my way up to your OP. I was going to say my 1966 VW Bug! It lasted forever, and it was so easy to work on. Loved it!I love all the hot rods and muscle cars I've had in my life, but, for simplicity... it was hard to beat a common 1963 VW beetle.

We had an Impala too. Nice car. My fave was a 1980 Lincoln Mercury Bobcat which never gave me a moment's trouble.I'm torn between the 1965 Chevy Impala SS & The 1965 Dodge Dart (pushbutton transmission)

I had a couple of Fiats, all had overhead cam 128 engines. Got so good at fixing them, I became the go to guy around town for them.My Fiat Spider. Bought this car for $250 that had a blown head gasket. Fix that myself and it was a great car. My cousin is on left (passed now) I'm on the right. This was taken while I was going to collage.

I painted my 64 mustang with 1969 Cadillac cinnamon gold paint. (man, did it sparkle). Wish I had a better picture of it. Ended up totaled with a bent uni-body when I swerved to miss a dog in the road and hit a cement bridge.Yup, had..the first..'64 Mustang...Chantilly Gold
My BIL brother was out with a friend, they swerved to avoid a dog, rolled the car down an embankment. He stated emphatically "I'll never swerve for a #_&&#@#$_ dog again"I painted my 64 mustang with 1969 Cadillac cinnamon gold paint. (man, did it sparkle). Wish I had a better picture of it. I say that too, but, being a dog rescue guy, I'm probably lying. My BIL brother was out with a friend, they swerved to avoid a dog, rolled the car down an embankment. He stated emphatically "I'll never swerve for a #_&&#@#$_ dog again"
