What's a sound that makes you cringe?

Distorted guitars. Give me the beauty of an unamplified acoustic or classical guitar any day.

The sound when you start the Netflix app on Roku. It's bad enough you can't turn off autoplay, but to make it even more annoying, they play a loud sound when you start the app. Plus, their app uses up all the memory and then won't respond -- probably because they load all these movie previews into memory for the autoplay.
 
Being a Brit I've never heard it myself but I understand from friends who have that "Gooks on the wire!" tightens the sphincter a bit!

Sorry about the term. I'm using the language of the tome.
 
Also the sound of foxes copulating in the woods next to my house. For those that don't know that either, they scream so loud like an animal being tortured or killed. And it happens at night when you are trying to sleep!

Cats, too. I thought they were killing each other until I realized they were just gettin' busy.
 
I like noise - any noise. I need it because when it's quiet, my tinnitus is really bad. 😊
It's funny when I'm in a restaurant & a baby cries in the booth next to me & the mother apologizes to me. Or the neighbor apologizes to me because his dog barks. I always say, "Oh, no. I like noise." They look at me like I'm from another planet.
