Whats For Dinner/Supper ?

Shepards pie has always been called just that even in Aussie land (y)(y) @RadishRose it was always made with minced cold left over roast lamb ….when I was young …..now days I make “Shepards pie “ with beef mince , cooked/ simmered on stove for a couple of hours then thickened with a teaspoon of water / cornflour
I finish mine topped with mashed spuds in an enamel pie dish …
I’ve never seen lamb mince in supermarkets meat department …and with butcher shops being a rarity now days I’m not even sure if you can get lamb mince.

If I’ve only got a small pack of beef mince , I’ll add a cup of grated carrot ( I always brown my onion And meat before adding water ) so I add the carrot to meat while browning and you’d never know the carrot is in the mix after it’s cooked

Crab and shrimp stuffed manicotti baked in Alfredo sauce.

I can hear my arteries clapping shut in advance.

It's a darn good thing that we usually eat relatively healthy, 'cause this sort of stuff could put us in the grave. Of course, the undertaker would have to get the grins off our faces first.....

Shepherds pie, (with more mushrooms than beef.)

Before our Brits jump to correct me, I know it's really not "shepherd's" pie, unless there are shepherds involved meaning sheep, meaning mutton or lamb, but that's what we call it. Made with other than Ovine, Brits call it "cottage pie". :D
Well I’m from England and my mom always made shepherds pie out of minced beef. She added onions and a bit of carrot too . The top was mashed potatoes and browned it in the oven.

I made savoury mince a few days ago , always cook / make it the same as I do for Shepards pie ….but I add a tin of baked beans to the savoury mince just before serving it adds extra fibre / and “stretches“ the amount ….so that equals more yummy food
