What's the deal with those SONIC TV commercials

AZ Jim

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
Those two freaks sitting in their convertible holding untouched hamburgers and milk shakes and making silly small talk? They are always together, no ladies and the way they look at each other makes their sexual orientation seem obvious (stolen from Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with that"). Don't those two have a LIFE? SONIC!! FIRE 'EM PLEASE!! Any TV commercial bug you??

They seem to be doing okay...

The kooky guys usually seen sitting in a car having conversations about SONIC’s new deals and food items are improv comedians Thomas James (T.J.) Jagodowski
and Peter Grosz.

Jagodowski (age 45) is always in the passenger seat and Grosz (age 43) is always in the driver’s seat. The two were chosen from more than 150 actors who auditioned for the TV spots and made their television debut in 2003 for SONIC’s “Two Guys” campaign.
Grosz has received two Emmy Awards for his writing on “The Colbert Report” and Jagodowski has appeared in “Oz the Great and Powerful,” “Prison Break,” “The Ice Harvest” and “Stranger Than Fiction.”
In 2010, the Two Guys were dropped from SONIC’s national advertising campaign and this caused an uproar amongst fans. Their 2012 comeback was staged as a social media publicity stunt featuring the duo pleading for their jobs.
The SONIC Two Guys campaign is one of the longest-running marketing campaigns in history.

Bonnie, Your find deals with the REAL people, I was referring to the characters they play. Maybe I could have made that more obvious.

:thankyou::lol1:Those 2 are something else aren't they~they make me go...what?

Haha. have been watching their hairlines recede for years. I remember one commercial they had a kid or 2 on the back seat. they never seemed gay to me, just guys out consuming calories without female disapproval. their stuff sounds tasty but ive never been to one because they are in creepy locations here.

Actually, I think they are funny. I'm not a fan of Sonic but the commercials don't bother me. I am more bothered by that poor Emu in the insurance commercials, dressed up and in sunglasses. It almost seems like animal cruelty to me... especially the one where he pecks the glass window reflection of himself. Ugh.

And don't get me started on the "free free free free" tax software commercials. Thank goodness tax season is over.

I've never been to a Sonic. There are none near me but a ton of other fast foodie places. I try to stay away from most of them as much as possible for health reasons.

I seldom watch television, but I have seen the commercials with the two guys, never paid much attention to them. We do have Sonic nearby, and in the hot summer, I enjoy the cherry diet limeade. They used to put real maraschino cherries a the bottom, and chunks of fresh lime, but now they usually forget the cherries altogether, and sometimes don't even get the fresh limes in there.
That has really discouraged me from stopping there. How can you have a real limeade when they leave out the limes ?
The hamburger looked much better in the commercial than the ones you get when you buy a hamburger at Sonic, so I seldom get a hamburger there either.

As far as AZ Jim’s original question about which commercials bother me, it would be the medical prescription ones........any and all of them ! !
Thankfully, we seldom even turn on the television unless there are tornado warnings, and always just watch everything on our iPads, so commercials are not usually an issue.

I liked the first couple of those Sonic commercials when they first came out, after that it seems like they were going downhill and not that funny. As far as Sonic, I won't go there at all, I went there to get some hot dogs when they had a special coupon, the dogs were so bad that both me and my husband ate half and threw the rest in the garbage....will never go back there, and there's one close by to me.

I'm with C'est Moi, worried about the emu. I even googled to see if it was real & it is. I think that's animal abuse!

You are not missing anything!! For what you pay for there you can get a sit-down meal elsewhere !!

I like the commercials for prescription drugs showing people playing blissfully in the park on a beautiful day with little children and puppies and butterflies all about with soothing music in the background while informing you that this medication can kill you, give you brain cancer, blow your liver out, cripple you, etc., etc.

Right! And then there are the ones with the jolly fat diabetics (like me, lol) prancing around smiling, waiting for the "O" to give them nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation & "dire rear"

I can't stand any prescription drugs. When they list the side affects I want to scream and get ride of all the Drug companies. Why can't they find a safe drug that can really help your condition. It's all about the money !

I feel the same about the smiling/happy lady with her Ox pump slung over her shoulder . Granted, likely better than bottles.....but still.

I like the Progressive Insurance commercials where Flo plays several parts. I laughed at the commercial when Flo visited her sister (played by Flo) and her sister is on the bike and she says, “Quiet! I’m blasting my quads.”

Also, some of the Geico commercials with the little gecko. I think all the insurance commercials may be in competition with the AFLAC duck.

I don't like the newer KFC commercials the last few years with all these different people playing Colonel Sanders. I find them all annoying.

I do like some of the Progressive commercials with Flo and I like the one where the geek Jamie owns a mansion, has a beautiful wife and sings in a deep voice.

This commercial is for a local furniture store chain, I think it's a riot.

That’s funny, but I think that I know this person.
