What's wrong with this picture? Like the seemingly neglected art it captured, that's up for debate.

Smart phone use is here to stay. As the technology improves, more and more people will get hooked. There's no going back, so I simply accept things. Janet used to tell me that she didn't want a smart phone. Then, she got interested in getting one, but told me she'd only use it, occasionally. Now, she's on it more than half the time she's at home.

By it's very nature a snapshot is a moment taken completely out of context. Those girls could have been sitting there for 15 seconds or 15 minutes. They could be researching the artwork, taking notes of their impressions for a school paper, or any one of a thousand other things. Just because they're on their cellphones at that very moment doesn't mean that they didn't appreciate the artwork.

Just like a piece of art, you can read whatever you want to into this picture. The cynic in me says it was staged to provoke a reaction, and it worked.

The story in my head is usually sooo much better than reality.

It's much too easy to jump to conclusions about something like this. But one thought that occurs to me is: If these young girls were that uncaring about art, what were they doing in an art museum? They could have been there for hours, and needed to get an Uber to take them home.

I am reminded of the story a while back of the woman so focused on her phone that she walked into the side of a moving RR train. She was fortunate that it knocked her on her butt, but she had no bad injury.

What's wrong with [this] picture?.........Nothing, maybe the girls do not like the painting on the wall.

Neither do I.......it looks like soft porn too me ?

It looks , [to my very untrained eye] like something from the masters?....from 2-3 hundred years ago maybe?

Where is it written that three girls from today must appreciate it?

And then again, as noted earlier......maybe they do, and are telling friends all about it?

Watched a young guy parked right in front of my house , texting , walked right into his own car. Then looked up @ me [sitting on the porch] like i did it !.........I said ya might want to watch where you're going...another dirty look.
