Songs have been composed about it, and movies have been made,
But what's your version of it.
How would you describe it?

Living off grid
Up in the mountains
off the beaten path



Touching The Creator's handiwork every minute

Wrote something about it while living at the cabin my lady and I built;


Someone, in another forum, posed the question; ‘What is your definition of a cabin?’

My reply;

For me?

It's more than even Kinkaid could replicate.
It's warmer than the warmest of wood stoves.
It has more charisma than the grandest of orators,
more appeal than the most opulent edifice built.

Yet it's simpler than the simplest of abodes.
...all the while doing its modest magic

Turning a mason jar to a drinking glass,
a tuna can to an ash tray,
a wooden apple box to a cabinet,
a burlap bag to a slip cover,
favorite old clothes to attire of choice,
a stranger to an acquaintance,
an acquaintance to a friend,
a wife to a mistress,

a life....to living.


And for me,

it's now home.

Hate to see you give up your dream, but maybe you could modify it a bit. When I was researching RV links, I came across one for RV-ing Women. They just meetup at places and that way you're not alone somewhere in the wild by yourself, but you still get to enjoy the company of others and safety in numbers. Re the OP: The life I have right now is a good life. I don't have to get up to go to work. I don't have money problems. Both those factors allow me to do whatever I want and go wherever I want, whenever I want. I have a wonderful family and am comfortable in my humble abode. I'm in the middle of the city but I look out my windows at the courtyard and see trees, grass and flowers in the summer. Life is good.

Well let's see, having someone to share my life with just enjoying life , life's too short to be alone as long as that person has a good personality and is positive thinker no drama I think that would be a good life, and of course traveling would be great .. For me right now, a good life would be a stack of books, a few balls of yarn, a cup of tea and a cat on my life.

It is interesting hearing many retired people say they want challenges. Maybe I will change my mind after I retire, but right now I would be happy with no challenges at all.

Knowing you're in good health and not always having to depend on others to do things for you. Also being grateful for what you have rather than what you don't have. Having others in your life who cheer you up when needed, and don't expect nothing in return (material-wise). Just kindness, love, and lasting friendship.
