When did it dawn on you that you weren't 18 anymore?

Well, we are all senior citizens here. So, when did it dawn on you that you weren't 18 anymore? It happened to all of us.
As for me. I was about 45-50, and working in a psych hospital. There was an 18 year old guy that we had to give a shot. He was fighting us, and he was a moose. My job was to hold down one of his arms. He was just too strong for me. That's when it hit me that i wasn't a spring chicken anymore.

I was going through a pile of job applications and came across one from a young man that was born the year I graduated from high school.

I took an instant dislike to him, but I did end up hiring him after an interview.

Well let me tell you I am still that 18 year-old-teenager, with 57 years of life's experiences to temper it.

In my 30s when I did a back bend on playground equipment at a park and couldn't flip all the way back or pull back up straight. Had to incrementally--as in inches at a time--scooch over to sideways to get unstuck.

I'd passed for 21 for about 5 years (ruddy Irish skin)
Got to be 19 and could buy beer in certain states

I remember sailing along thru my 20's, even though I was married with 3 kids ..... 18 or 28 didn't seem to matter to me
It was when I hit 30 that it struck me that I was getting old.

What? You mean I'm not? In my head, I don't feel a bit different than I did 63 years ago except maybe smarter (we're too soon old and too late smart!).

ETA: I just watched part of the Kennedy Center honors for 2021 and have determined that when I realized I'm not 18 anymore is right now. Joni Mitchell is one of the honorees. She looks pretty feeble and even had a cane. She's three years younger than I am

About 50 or a little older. I never worried about my age. I think part of that was my mother. She envied youth and would cry and sob about her life. Wouldn't tell her age. I didn't know her age until I looked at my birth certificate for the first time and did the math. She was 36 when I was born and always old to me because she acted old. I didn't want to be like her. But I do feel life catching up with me.

I always feel 18, but sometimes when I try to do 18 year old things my shoulders and legs say "no, you fool, you are not 18 anymore

In reality, life changed at 22 when we had the first of our 4 kids that arrived over the next 5 years. Imagining that you're 18, with a wife and 4 kids trailing along is quite a reach.
