Where does our preference for a significant other come from ?

Well, I do like tall, dark and handsome. I have no interest in country music (some of the old stuff is decent) but I still love a man in a cowboy hat. Like a man in uniform.

But I think my preference for staying single in the end, is from that house I grew up in.

Today is my cat's 11 year adoption-versary. Sticking with the cats

What about women with big feet and Adam’s apple? I venture to say women with these characteristics are a breed beyond the ordinary? Not that I am aware of anyone with this description. Why are some attracted to same sex and others not? I don’t know why I am attracted to certain people and others I am not. Why do I prefer I don’t know, perhaps I am an individual, I don’t know? 😎

I definitely have a preference as to physical type. That never changes. What goes along with that is being kind, thoughtful, intelligent, affectionate, well-groomed, with a good sense of humor, and having some similar interests. He's got to be able to step up to the plate and take more than a swing at it. Think that's a lot to ask for? I don't ask for more than I give. His height or the size of his hands and feet are secondary. At this point, I prefer a guy who can bend over and tie his own shoes, and look good doing it. 😁

I thought it was biologically impossible for women to have Adam's apples... someone can correct me if I'm mistaken.
 
I didn't realize I had a type until I met my SO because he is very different in good ways than other men in my past.

Interesting subject. Very rarely is it my libido that stirs anything in me, but an intellectually attractive man will get my attention. His looks are important to me, but this is not the most important quality.

If it is my libido that is stirred, red flags go up! I consider that a form of insanity. :LOL:

There is a long list of videos about why we are attracted to the wrong person. Just google "why we are attracted to the wrong person". You must have grown personally if you were attracted to a man who is different. Or awareness of bad choices can improve our judgment.

From experience I would say, being attracted to a man because he is a biker, is not the best standard of judgment. :LOL: At least the biker I married was a whole better than the first one who became a Hell's Angel. But the one whom I married was not the family man I wanted. I saw the warning sign against that marriage, but wow, he was charming, sexy, good-looking. Eros is to blame for that one.

A genius is not necessarily an attractive person, but intellectual we must be compatible. Actually highly intelligent men can be socially retarded and real jerks. But neither would I want a man in life who was not at least intellectually curious.

I never saw the man who told me I had to give up books if I wanted a man in life, again. Unfortunately, previously I had married a man who didn't want me to read, and that was a huge mistake! We married too fast and there were too many things about him that I didn't know until it was too late. I will never again get close to a man who doesn't appreciate I have slept with the best men in history and I would never give them up for someone who is not interested in knowing about them. Genghis Khan was a fascinating man, but I don't think I would have liked being one of his women. I think Genghis Khan holds the record for having the most offspring because he impregnated the most women. Even more than the kings who had large harems.
