That's quite a list, @David777 .... I wonder how many females could check all the boxes. To paraphrase Elizabeth Bennett's comment to Mr. Darcy's list of characteristics of an "accomplished woman," -- "I am no longer surprised at your knowing only six accomplished women. I rather wonder now at your knowing any."Youthful woman =<66", reasonably healthy, athletic, intelligent, outgoing, educated, loves nature, doesn't smoke or use hard drugs, or snore.
Oh, Any man would have to enhance my life.I love the freedom of living alone, and would never give it up for anybody, I have a few male friends who help with odd jobs around the place if needed but I’m very independent, and don’t want, or need, a partner
I couldn't have said it any better !!I doubt I could find anyone else who can read my mind like my wife can.
Me: "Hey Honey...where's that...thing?"
Wife: "Top shelf of the bedroom closet."
Me: "Oh, right. Thanks."
Really ?False dichotomy: my life as it is now includes a partner, and one who contributes strengths I don’t have while benefiting from those I do.
Hypothetically assuming she is the first to go, as actuarially she is more likely to be, I would not be as open to having my life and interests reshaped by another as I was in my 20’s and 30’s. Not to say that I am closed to every conceivable new thing, but I prize my dogs, garden, reading and discussion of ideas highly. There are things I prefer to do alone like steering the garden. But for card games and affection, a partner is preferable. Dogs can cover the affection but are worthless for cards.
Really ?![]()
A flippant comment from me Mark, sorry, it was the ‘Dogs can cover the affection’ part,I meant for me it isn’t an either/or - life as it is now requires the partner I have now. Or, if you meant really actuarial more likely to go first, yes. Her health isn’t good and she ten years riper than me.
A flippant comment from me Mark, sorry, it was the ‘Dogs can cover the affection’ part,
I cannot imagine a dog replacing a person’s affection somehow, but never having a dog in my life what do I know ?
What if she starts to snore a few months into your relationship?Youthful woman =<66", reasonably healthy, athletic, intelligent, outgoing, educated, loves nature, doesn't smoke or use hard drugs, or snore.
I hear ya....I don't want 'a' partner. I want 'the' partner. Unfortunately, due to health concerns I am pretty sure I'll have 'no' partner. Forever & ever & ever.
